Hi Everyone,

Is there such a cable available (in the UK) that will enable me to use my phone fully in the car, whether it be music, phone calls, google maps and charging?

I have an offical Audi MMI to USB, then tried adding a UCB to USB C with no joy. I happen to using a Samsung S20.

(I know I could use bluetooth, but I really don't want to).

Many thanks,

Scotty

Doesn’t your car come with 2 usb a ports under the arm rest?

What MMI do you have? If you have the top spec you can get CarPlay/androidAuto activated

Sadly not, I just have the 'classic' MMI port in the arm rest. I don't have the tech pack or anything to give me the USB ports. It's a straight S-Line model so to speak.

bluetooth is seamless works with all the steering controls and interfaces.. Just pair the phone and the car will auto detect it and auto play music for you.

That's a last resort for me, oddly I get headaches from bluetooth...

There is no cable that will connect the phone and do all you want. For google maps you need the tech pack. For phone calls you need Bluetooth. For charging you just need the right cable and Music I'm not 100% sure on with the basic RMC system but I don't think that will work.

What you really need is a car with tech pack and Android Auto enabled. Unfortunately not a cheap retrofit.

Thank you @B5NUT , I think I have have to try building up some tolerance to blue tooth if I want a seamless experience with lots of cost.

I have seen replacement head unit things on YouTube etc, but I'm wary of going down the custom route. I've seen that they replace the flip up screen and integrate with the MMI too. Looks ideal but possibly problematic.

What you need is to find an installer that would do the job from start to finish which includes the removal of component protection but I think you would be looking at at least £700+. There are aftermarket solutions out there and the interface would work with your current screen. Have a search on the forum, there are plenty of threads about them, and they work with all the MMI systems from the A1 to the A8.
