Ordered in August - build date September - everything going fine until late October I received a message that there was an issue with the engine and they were awaiting the approval for new emissions - jump to today after a lot of complaining, received a call from utterly incompetent AUDI UK exec office - 'yeah your cars got a build date in April, nothing we can do to bring it forward.'

Anyone else getting similar nonsense?

ordered - A3 35TFSI S-Line in Black with Comfort and sound pack

It almost sounds as though it is now being treated as a brand new order! I ordered mine in Sept/Oct with a build date in early January. Mine’s also a 35 TFSi (S-tronic) S-Line including comfort and sound pack. A recent change to paint colour pushed mine back a couple of weeks.

Do you need the car earlier? If not, then the way that I look at things - bearing in mind the problems that are being reported recently - the later the build date the more chance of them being fixed before delivery :zen:

Possible grounds for cancelling the order and looking elsewhere? That's what I would do.

As Jassy says, if you cancel you start all over again so damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I actually meant another brand. Like you said though you will be at square one... I'm sure the A3 would be a good car but the thought of waiting 8 months or so for one to be delivered stinks really. Feel sorry for the OP. :confusion:

The problem with the suggestions to cancel the order is that the OP would have to pay any increased import taxes that might result from Brexit. The order that the OP currently holds will be covered by Audi’s commitment to pay any price difference for orders placed before December. I’m willing to bet that won’t be the case for any new orders placed now. (Indeed, my dealer have an explicit clause in new their contracts to draw purchasers’ attention to this).

Anyone cancelling an order now would do better to wait until until the post Brexit situation becomes clear (eg import duties, exchange rate, car prices).

What do you think the reason for such a delay is mate?
Is it purely the engine emissions issue? Just ordered his spec at the wrong time maybe? Pure bad luck.

The delay the new wltp changes that affect the 1.5 TFSI engine and a few others....they've changed again it tells you this before you configure a car on the site

Looks like they are all back on the configurator now

Noticed that Comfort and Sound Pack for Edition 1 and S3 has increased from £865 to £995 - Can't see any difference - Bit early for a significant increase in my opinion

What’s wrong with carpet? I have my garage carpeted. Far nicer than concrete and easier to keep clean as just hoover it.

ha ha nice one.

I think you might get away with it with bikes but not really suitable for cars.

You could maybe get away with it in summer, but in winter you get all the salt, water if the cars been wet or snow !

I often wonder about tiling my garage floor like they have in a car showroom.

Make sure you buy a coffee machine and have a bowl of boiled sweets along with your carpet tiles.. If you are going to do it then do it right:thumbs up: lol

Car stays in the garage and goes in come rain or shine. Been down nearly 5 years and it’s still perfect. Water and oil resistant carpet the way forward.

That'd pretty poor. I'd be livid, and asking why your order will now be so late. As said above, it sounds like they are classing it as a brand new order.

Unless you `really` want this car, let your feet do the talking, and cancel the car, and get your deposit back.

Other dealers will have `stock` cars on order, where you'll be able to take that build slot, and as long as it hasn't started being built, you can amend it to suit what you want.

That's how I got my then S3 Saloon within 2.5 months, when my then work colleague waited 12 months for his.

Personally I can't see what audi are doing that's any different to what other manufacturers do. Unfortunately it is a pain, it's happened to me with Mercedes, but this is reality and I doubt if Audi probably have any control over it...

So latest news - Audi 35TDi in Mythos Black with Comfort & Sound being delivered pre Christmas - change from the TFSi ordered - but given the comments re TFSi problems, feeling that may be a lucky break!

One of the other reasons for the delay with the Edition 1 35TFSI -Stronic was because the wrong seats were installed. (Manual instead of electric)

When Audi figured out that they were missing electric seats. They halted production to fix the issues of all cars still in production, this no doubt would have caused a slight backlog.

Car delivered as promised pre Christmas and one very happy young man in our house today!
