Anyone ordered a new S3 yet?

Just came across this video of an S3 Sportback in black. I have no idea what these guys are saying but think this looks really nice. I like the look of black cars but they are a nightmare to keep clean, but could be tempted by this. There is a shot on the freeway around 4.40 which looks good from the side/behind

In the black I've got to say it's one of the nicest 8Y Sportback I have seen.

Sits too high off the tyres for my liking

Just wondered if anyone has ordered a new S3 yet?

I’ve found what I think is a decent lease deal and I’ve added a few options, comfort and sound, metallic paint, wireless and the 19” trapezoid wheels.

Coming in at £346 a month with £3k down on 4 year deal. Could get basic spec for £317.

Anyone seen any better deals? Not interested in doing a pcp before anyone asks ha ha!

Cheers

Where did you get the quote for this at £317 and did that include the dreaded VAT??

Hi,

Long gone that deal unfortunately. It was pulled by the time I decided to order. Nothing come out anywhere near as good.

I’ve still not ordered anything as the car market in general is crazy expensive right now. I’m gambling on a decent stock deal come the new year

Best I can find on a 36mth 10,000 mile is £385 (inc vat) on a 9+35 lease. I was wanting to order the Octavia vRS 2.0TSI DSG but the S3 is coming out a lot cheaper, just need to shave a few more pounds off as I'm wanting to spec up the LED Matrix and extended ambient lighting pack. Only have until March to get mine delivered as my current vRS on a lease goes back then...

Sounds decent. The thing is I have always managed to get a cheap lease deals.... for example:

£240 (9 months down) on current golf R
£330 (6 months down) on A35 premium
£107 (£2.4K down) Golf GTI DSG - yes £107!
£142 (£2.4K down) Golf GTD

Ive found other deals for mates on various other bits on bobs including a VRS where that have paid peanuts (sub £200 with 9 months down).

I currently have deals on the table new on Golf GTI, new 128ti and an M135i (missed a couple of very cheap deals on these). All sub £350 with a decent spec added so not poverty.

Basically.... I’m a tight sod but given how much the Mrs has spent on the house during lockdown needs just at the min!

Luckily my mum has a car she doesn’t use that come Feb when mine goes back I can use for a while if I need to wait for delivery if I factory order rather stock deal.

The GTI/GTD were via central uk vehicle leasing. That GTI is the best value lease deal in history. It was when they did the facelift to 7.5... obviously wanted to fill order books for the 7. It was £96 for manual..... I decided to go dsg which was rubbish... Mrs ended up having it. The R was with central as well but got local VW dealer to match it so didn’t pay £180 admin fee... every little helps ha ha!

The A35 was pure luck. Mrs wanted a black A35 premium... was almost to order on pcp with £3k down £390 a month. Then literally googled A35 lease deal.... what looked like a dodgy lease company came up with the deal at £350. A quick check linked it to Balgores leasing. Rang them... they had one premium left in black with some other added spec. I was cheeky and said could they do it for £330. They said if I can wait for next month they can put it on that months figures so can do the discount.

My advice is sign up to a few of the big lease company’s mailing list. You generally find a certain car will be on and it features in all the emails. Then it’s a case of working out which is best deal. But this is if you happy to flexible on which car you are prepared to drive.

There are have been deals on S3’s in the past but doubt there will be much on new model. But you never know. In hindsight I should have 100% ordered this deal but was worried to pull trigger without seeing one in the flesh.

If anything comes up I will send you a message with the details

If you would I'd appreciate it, it's the S3 that I'm looking at going for, just need the pennies to come down a little further.

Yep will do mate. S3 if currently my first choice as the new Golf R is silly money and wasn’t massively impressed with the m135i. Just playing waiting game

My mate has just picked up an M135i, not my first choice, but he's happy enough with it...

Have you ever had issues handing any lease cars back ie unexpected bills?
Often been tempted to go down the lease deal rather than pcp but have been put off by stories of them charging for damage ect.
Your thoughts will be appreciated.:thumbs up:

Never a single issue. It’s regulated now do they can’t take advantage. I’m sure it’s on the BCA website. With size of scratches/dents/kerbing that accepted as fair wear and tear.

edit... found it

https://www.bvrla.co.uk/resource/informing-customers-of-the-industry-s-fair-wear-and-tear-standards.html

For example... her GTD. Couple of kerb marks on the front diamond cut alloys and slight scuff on front bumper from a very very light touch in the snow. Charge... £0. Accepted as fair wear and tear.

GTI... absolutely horrific kerb mark on alloy after clipping kerb in snow (after owning 2 weeks).... honestly unrepairable to my untrained eye. Charge from VW.... £27. They send a picture instantly to a VW who come back with a price.... he joked he will be kind in the angle the picture was taken.

I think the assessors know when they turn up what they are getting. I treat them like my own cars. Immaculately presented for the assessment. I even identify the areas they may want to look at. As long as the car is serviced on time and has road legal none budget tyres on you have no issues. I do a quick video and a few pics just in case but never had any come back bet them assessing and collecting.

My mate did get stung by VW but he got chips away to repair a massive key mark down the near side rather than getting a proper job. Cost him £300... assessor got paint depth gauge out after noticing it wasn’t right. Same guy got done for £900 by merc but... all the diamond cut alloys were ruined, scratches from footballs hitting it and there was an issue with warranty claim on steering rack... he tried to be clever and it back fired.

In short. Look after it. Repair/service it when required and you will have ZERO issues.

It’s exactly the same when you hand back a car on a voluntary termination. I’ve heard they are ruthless when you do that.

Yeah worth looking in to. I’ve done both pcp and lease. I have generally found low deposit pcp will ultimately end up with negative equity depending on how long you keep it. I’ve had to sell privately to come out with any cash. We all know how much of a pain it is selling a £20k+ used car so can’t be bothered with the hassle.

A lease is good for me. Get a car I want, which is under warranty, for the payments/deposit I’m happy with and then hand it back after 2/3 years.

Limitations of a lease are options.... you load a car with options the price rockets. For example you want £3k of options the general rules of thumb is that £3k is divided between the number of payments on the term. So on paper you see on you a cheap car... but that’s with no options, not even metallic paint in most cases.

Thats the reason why l won't lease a car again l done it with a RCZ back in 2011from central leasing great looking car and very well equipped standard and they were very thin on the ground then but its a different ball game when leasing the likes of a S3 or similar they aint well equipped and look very basic outside in standard guise ....pcp suits me as l couldn't do anything basic as it wouldn't hold my interest for long
Looking ahead the Golf 8 gti looks destined for the personal lease road ...as you can already get 15% off via a pcp ....whether the Golf R makes it to personal lease is doubtful given its higher RRP but you never know

Yep... mk8 golfs have dropped spec (winter pack for one) so you’re already forced in to adding stuff.

I added metallic paint to my current R... that’s it. £20 odd quid a month to drive a grey car ha ha. Luckily it had winter pack as standard so it’s done a job for 3 years. They have dropped winter pack as standard on new GTI and R so that £270 extra.... standard wheels on new GTI and R a horrendous so more money you need to pay.... then only white as standard... another upgrade. All adds up. S3 no dissimilar... awful Standard wheels. Comfort and sound as a minimum.

Fine line between pcp and lease sometimes. Im waiting for a pcp quote off drive the deal on new S3 with paint, wheels, c&s.

What about a Cupra Ateca?? Is that available on any lease deal.
Reason for asking is it comes pretty well spec'd as standard. I think the only thing you can add is pan roof heated seats and Brembo's.

Yah come with half decent spec, regularly on lease offer..... but would advise test drive first. I found the seats uncomfortable

Lol I already own one.
I actually find it more comfortable than my S3 saloon. I bought it in August.
Clearly you haven't been to the start of this thread.:scared2:
What sort of deals are there for the Cupra.

ha ha I do remember seeing one on a thread somewhere on here. I was passenger, the Mrs drove the Cupra. She drives one a regular basis and she really rates it.

Perfect car for uk roads in my option, rides the uneven surfaces/bumps nicely and goes like stink. I also remember it sounding good from outside. I assume the exhaust isn’t valved like the golf r estate? Also like you say come well specced, don’t think even the paint choice is extra.

They are currently on offer at £300 a month with £3600 down but have seen them available with same monthlies but lower deposit in the past.

Yeah! It does sound good from the outside. Got more of a burble compared to my S3.
£300 a month is a good price .
