Hi all, I have an Audi S3 2007 model.

Car doesnt want to start, doesnt swing and starter doesnt turn or even click. I have this feeling that its the sensor for the clutch. I can run start the car and it works perfect.

When one turns ignition on you need to apply the clutch before it starts I think that is an issue. Doesnt anyone know where this sensor is located or is there perhaps a fuse.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Hello George,

Welcome to Audi-Sport.net

Sorry to hear of your issue but your car is an 8P chassis - I have tagged your post and one of the mods can move it to the right section where more people with that chassis will see it and comment.

John.

This is a bit of a long shot depending if your diagnosis is correct.
The clutch has an electrical connection and if it comes undone you will get the symptoms you are describing. It is difficult to see how it can come undone unless the clip was not pushed into place originally.

There is a after market mini electrical harness that removes the need to put your foot on the clutch before starting the car and even if it does not solve your problem it is an essential modification as it will help prevent thrust bearing wear on the crank shaft when the car is started from cold. Especially important if you have an uprated clutch where the wear can be accelerated. It comes with instructions and so you can check all connections at the same time. The instructions say you have to remove the turbo inlet elbow but I managed without doing that. Here is a link and they are sold by George Seamons:

Okay great thank you. Just to confirm the cable is located behind the firewall in the engine bay side and not at the pedal inside the car. Want to make sure before I remove any covers inside.

Regards

The electrical connection is in the engine bay behind the removable cover on the bulkhead.
I’d try removing it and reinstalling in case something has come loose.

Removed and all wires are intact. How can I bypass this to see if it is perhaps the issue. I know there are 4 wires. 2 for cruise and 2 for the clutch start.

I would buy the delete harness. Even if it does not solve the problem, it will help your engine in the long run. Excess wear on the crank thrust washers can scrap the engine due to “crank walk” occurring.
Have you checked that there is nothing wrong with the starter motor and its wiring?

Why not use VCDS to check if the switch is working or not - measuring blocks.
