Anything about the TT you don't like compared to the A3? Considering the change myself as the TT is so much nicer inside (IMO) than the A3 though it is no slouch. It's just hard to tell if there are any small issues with a car without owning/living with it for a period of time!
i have just changed from mk3 tt s line roadster to a3 s line cab , the a3 is more plush ride and feels roomier , the specs are similar tech, sound and comfort , the seats are better in the a3 had super sport seats in tt couldn't get comfortable in them , the one thing i do miss is the exhaust note on the tt, and it did have a more nimble fell to it
I really do like the A3 platform, have a 2013 S Line and its high mileage and would like a bit more tech with Car play/AA, LED headlights and Virtual cockpit, options are really a TTs or an S3 as want something a bit quicker. Drove a 2.0 tfsi TT through work last week and the interior is really nice and the Upshift sounded just like my mates S3 which was a nice surprise, car definitely felt more nimble then my A3 as you say.
Am i right in saying the Mk3 TT only has single zone climate on all versions?
yes single zone , if you get one with sound and comfort the controls are in the vents looks really good, carplay/aa didn't get fitted until 2017 then its only a small screen in the v/c the 2.0 tfsi is a cracking engine with a nice exhaust tone
Might even consider the 2.0 TFSI Quattro that sits under the S depending on prices, any other must have options? Im not familiar what packs contain what on the TT, i'll have to find a brochure for the 2017 plate cars and see what is standard and what is optional.
Well I had the A3 8P SE, then A3 8V sport, then the TT MK2, then TT MK3, then S3 8V, then A3 8V S-line.
Now back in a TT MK3 S-line.
I'm not going to compare it with the S3, that would be unfair, unless it was compared with a TTS.
So, having had them all, every time I get in the TT seat, first thing I do is smile!!
Its a real drivers car, corners like its on rails.
Its such a nice firm drive, love the seats, virtual cockpit and Sat Nav, its a real drivers car.
If you have kids and a wife who's boss, its the A3 for you lol
For me, kids have gone, (ish) have the use of another car if I want to be boring!!

This is my reaction when getting in them at work, the inside is just such a nice place to be, Makes it feel special, almost 'baby R8 ish' if that makes sense in that everything is focused to the driver, the seats i got along well with in the short time i got to drive one.
I very rarely have more then 1 passenger so extra seats isn't an issue for me, just looking for something a bit nicer and sportier feeling then my current a3 which is no slouch.
Might have to see about test driving the 2.0 quattro TT then the TTs and S3 and make a decision from there!
Its such a fun car, its got everything and the diesel with a stage 1 map is quick and great on fuel.
That's why the S3 went, I use the car everyday, I was using 3 times more fuel driving the S3!!
I have more smiles in the TT and fuel return is great.

Do you do many miles? I only do up to 8k ish per year and not too many long journeys so Diesel isn't great for me unfortunately else i'd have one as its generally much cheaper, but since my first diesel a few years ago (A Vauxhall Astra) needed a new DPF after many failed regenerations (typical vauxhall in my experience) i've stayed away from diesel since my mileage reduced further.
Also, have you had any issues with the Windows dropping to open the door when its frosty/icy out? or can you work around it with scraping them or de icer?
Once had a problem with the MK2, but was a fault and not ice and had a regulator replaced.
Nothing with the MK3
I do around 40 miles a day, work and back.
Plus the running around.
What you have to remember, you will what to take the TT for a blast more so than the A3, so more miles lol
Yeah, i think the TT is definitely gonna be more of a Toy compared to the A3, i think a TTs Test-drive followed by an S3 drive is needed!
Does anyone know what model year the mk3 tts have the super sports seats fixed ? Majority of the 2015 and 2016 model tts have the plastic trim seperated from the leather on the seats with the air bag visible in some cases, really interested in swapping my 1.8 a3 8v for a tts but the super sport seat problem is putting me off getting one as the ones around my 20k budget all have seat problems
