Hi I have a 2007 s3 8p Manual and I want to change the Gearbox oil. Can anyone help me in what oil should I buy and do I need one of those special tools for the plug? Very new to Audi and want to start trying to fix small problems myself
Okay cheers mate. Sounds stupid but where do I buy the Audi oil? From Audi itselfFor gearbox, diff and Haldex just stick to genuine Audi oil. Not sure about tools sorry.
Newcastle mate al have a little look on google now. Like a say am just starting out so havnt got a clue but really appreciate your helpGive Opie Oils a call and they’ll give advice, otherwise Audi. Do you have any VW/Audi specialists near you - where you located, others here may provide suggestions.
Don’t worry I will have a mechanic with me but only to watch, I want to be able to learn on my own and just go to him every time I have problemIf you are just starting doing mechanicing changing the gearbox oil is not in lesson 1. Other easier stuff to get you going.
However if you are keen to have a go, best to use the genuine oil for your car from Audi.
Also a little tip to make sure you get enough oil in - fill it up as advised in Haynes then put the filler plug in and go for a drive round the block. Let the car stand and then recheck the level, you may get some more in.
Another bigger tip is to make sure you can undo the filler plug first so you know you can get oil back in rather than drain it out and then struggle to undo the filler plug!
A special tool is needed.
Av done that already cheers m8Change Haldex filter when doing oil
Castrol what... and genuine was ?
