Anyone tried any of those kits that works on fairly rough headlights?
Folks car failed mot with Misty headlights and I don’t really have time to sand them then polish them to clear so seeing if anyone has tried any of those wipe on/wipe off kits that works. They seem too good to be true but I just need it good enough to pass mot. Car doesn’t really go anywhere now think it’s done under 100 miles since March so just something good enough till I get time to properly sort it.
 
The misting is cause by grit and stones scratching the surface of the lens, so you'll need to polish that out to return then to clear. Should take you an hour at most, maybe a little longer if you take the units out of the car. However you can mask them off with a bit of tape and do them in situ.

The kits I've seen use a drill, and are OK. If you have access to a rotary polisher and some cutting compound, you'll make light work of them. Just remember to seal them with some wax afterwards and top up when you wash the car.

May well work, fogging is only oxidation of the plastic after all. Cant speak for the wipes but PlastRX I bought a bottle for 12 nicker in Halfords and it lasts ages . In fact after 2 applications I've hardly used any.

How far gone was your headlights?
The ones I’m trying to sort is like that video
 
Mine weren't foggy but lacked a glass like shine . Looked fantastic after though. Its basically a cutting compound that you can use with a microfiber cloth or a DA with a small pad . Gets good reviews.

Don’t think it’s avoidable putting in the hard graft to get it right :wink:

hoping for a quick fix to get through mot then when I got more time I will sort it out properly.
It’s not even my car and my folks don’t go out at night. Furthest they get is the shops and that’s less than half a mile away.

Headlight oxidisation should be treated in the same way as paint oxidisation both correct in the same way............your just shaving a layer of pvc off then refining it just like taking a layer off the clearcoat then refining it best way machine polisher 10 mins job with a machine

no machine so gonna be like an hour a side. My Porter cable disappeared when I moved house and not replaced it yet. It’s gonna be a hand job:wink:
