Finally had some spare time today, so decided to have the VC and MMI latest updates applied remotely via @DJAlix
My Virtual cockpit has had a few instances of shutting down whilst driving and Alex kindly offered to apply the update for it and the MMI when he had some free time.

Hopefully it won’t do this again and the MMI update has re-activated my Google maps overlay which had stopped working.

Was he able to do this via team viewer or did you have to visit him?
........i travelled over to see Sean (T-1000 )at his work shop for Alix to do the work remotely. One of the best things i have done on my RS6, Alix even activated some things Audi said could not be done & my car is on a 16 plate !!!!.
Sean is a lot closer to my house than Alix is so for me well worth the trip over.

Remotely.
I host sessions in Manchester when Alex requires it.

Wonder if he has anyone a bit closer to Glasgow who could assist

Avoid anyone who is using a ‘Fake’ / ‘Cloned’ Odis by the way.
If it screws up a module you’ll be left high and dry.
I suspect you may get a PM from a member on here who is doing it under the ‘radar’ so to speak.

I’d only ever recommend a genuine Odis user such as @DJAlix

sorry to hijack this a bit but has no one developed an update yet for the look of the virtual cockpit? I know you can change how dials are arranged but I mean the colour scheme, background etc.

Would love to be able to change the look of it.

It’ll never happen.

Probably not.
I work for Bosch and a few years ago, I attended a software security course run by the lead Engineer for the VC.
The security systems seemed very comprehensive to my simple mechanical engineering brain.

Can I ask why? I have friends who have done full SVM restores with “cloned” Odis, have full access to the VAG servers to pull down any configuration files needed the same way a genuine Odis user does. Just out of curiosity, I don’t want to cause a stir.

What happens if the process stops midway because a cloned Odis decides it wants to close down? Same with flashing modules ?
If you brick a module on a car using fake Odis and hooky foreign access you’ll be on your own, plus how do you recover said bricked modules ?
If there’s a problem with an FRF file or piece of software that VAG supply and you use as a cloned Odis user, then screw a car up you’ll have no recourse with them, whereas a genuine Odis user will receive assistance / back up with it.

Also if you calibrate driver assistance systems such as ACC and the like how do you know it’s spot on as it should be ? If you caused a crash because of hooky calibrations how would you feel ?

It makes a mockery of genuine Odis licensed users who pay £££££’s a year and are subject to background checks etc before they are even considered for access to VAG servers.

I am based in London but have coding partners in Manchester, Leicester and Scotland. I also travel to Greece and Italy several times a year.

I work with Alex in the Manchester area, so can vouch 100%

Genuine Licensed Odis Service is used, beware of people using clones etc, if they screw your car up you'll be left with big issues.

“Can” be left with big issues...

The problem here is that while clone hardware and unofficial accounts work, should something go wrong then said “professional” will NOT have support from VW group with which to seek official assistance. If in doubt ask to see official dealership paperwork and your chosen “professionals” secure ID. If they cannot produce both at the same time then please think hard before proceeding with your works as chances are they are not even insured let alone competent to work on your vehicle.

Once SFD kicks in (Mk8 Golf has it) your ‘friends’ won’t be able to do anything on the newer cars, only genuine Odis 7 with authorised users will be able to access the online services and generate SFD tokens to access locked modules.

All changes to a cars set up will be logged on VAG servers.

So I’m afraid the days of the cloned Odis user with VPN online access are numbered.
