Wipers stopped working after running slow for a few minutes...
I’ve greased the linkage ( seemed to move ok anyway) and tried a linkage/motor from scrappy
Fuse checked (Ok) also washer and rear wiper work fine so this is ruled out
Still not working
Anything else that could cause this issue?

Check the Body Control Module up under the dash on the driver's side for water ingress. After the weather we've had recently that could be your problem. It was for me last year, water was getting in under the ECU housing and dripping into the BCM. First my wipers died then my lights started playing up. I fitted a good secondhand one and all was good again.

This video is helpful to help you locate and remove the module ...

Relays, fuses for any build up from heat on the connections, seen this before, hard to diagnose on net, but check all anyway.

thanks for replies -
I've checked the under-dash area and the Body Control Module looks clean and dry, no sign of water getting in.

checked voltage on the motor connector - it's getting 12v across the middle 2 pins when wiper switch is on.
scanned w VCDS and below code is stored:
1 Fault Found:
01753 - Windshield Wiper Motor (V) Stage 1
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground

looks like I need a new wiper motor then?

Initially I thought the problem was down to a failed wiper motor or a seized wiper mechanism. I bought both, fitted them and still nothing.

I was getting the exact same fault code as you and it was the BCM (J519) that was the problem. Did you remove the module and open it up? It doesn't take much water to do a lot of damage.

I bought another module for £45 off ebay and it all worked perfectly again.

Thanks Monzta, part ordered (used)
the BCM fitted to mine is 8E0 907 279 E

cannot find this one for sale in UK and I'm told that the 'F' revision should be a straight swap.
how can the BCM be coded to the new vehicle after installation?

If I remember correctly, the BCM is plug 'n' play, no coding required to make it work. It will though throw up an error code 01794 - Control Module - Incorrect Chassis (VIN) Number is what mine had.

You can get the new BCM to learn your car's VIN by going into the 09 - Central Electronics section using VCDS and by going into Adaptation channel 081 Vehicle Data Learning then enter and save 26467 as the new value. That should do it.
