Hi, just signed up to see if anybody can help shed any light into this problem with my A3 BMN 170 PPD 2008. It all started on the m1 on the way to france a year or so ago, 6th gear 70mph started hesitating under load and progressivley got worse. Ever since it has done it on and off but now it seems worse than ever. So far it's had: Cam belt kit, new tandom pump, checked for loose bolts an slightley tightened injectors, played with cam timeing, oil and filters a few times, cleaned fuel tank. Probley more i can't remember as well... Anyway now i have logged live data again and it seems to me that the throttle pedal is telling it to do it. See in the attached picture, where it goes to 100% throttle the first time,

I never let off in the middle, was 100% where it says 0%. Out of the 3 times you can see i gave it full throttle it only hesatated on the first one as you see. Ohh also tried another throttle pedal and no joy. Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks

With the engine being off, just ignitionOn, if you play with the throttle pedal does it not always reflect the value you have requested (again to reiterate to be tested with the engine off)

If yes then maybe load drop test the wiring from pedal to the pcm, else could be a pcm ecu issue

Is it just losing power or full cut out? only in high gears?

Hi, thanks for replys. Yes i tried testing while engine off an full throttle while my mate was rattleing wires about under bonnet and it never moved from 100% couldn't get it to drop. And it's mainley from 3rd onwards, 1st and 2nd just spins up, seems more torque related in high gears up hills ect. Did a few other runs up a steep hill and then throttle seemed to stay at 100% but injection ammount downward spiked when it hesatated. Going to check ecu connections an wireing under wiper tray next but it dose seem like the ecu is telling it not to inject. Also tried re flashing standered map an it's still the same just a little less noticeable as theres less power. Such an annoying problem... Thanks

Have you changed the fuel filter in the engine bay?

Hey,did you fix the problem ? i have same car 2007 170 a3 BMN...same problem...1st and 2nd gear pulls nice and from 3rd hesitate when past 2500 rpm....also 4 5 6 gear.....when in load...i just changed plastic intake manifold...it has worn swirl flaps...so i put aluminium manifold from bkd code engine with no swirl flaps from darkside developments UK i think this wont cause hesitations....car has standard factory map....no other mods...except turbo was overbosting and error control range not reached and limp mode....but that was before 4 months from then nothing i suspect it's turbo actuator that's sticky...but as i drove miles hard maybe its cleaned itself so no more limp modes..i goy it once in a 2 month maybe......ooor maybe its that turbo actuator that make hesitations ? also i suspect on tandem pump fail...maybe to check fuel filter for oil.....also maybe it could be worn injector seal as i read and bolts streched.....i dont know what to do...help if anyone know something

I changed all sorts, my swirl flaps were nackered, put the bmn manifold on seemed better for a while then came back, had dpf delete, filters, tandom pump, remapped, cam belt, seemed ok then came back worse. Finally changed cam timeing many times and found a spot where it had more power and seemed to sort it although it was miles off wot it apparentley should be on torsion value.

Torsion value on my BMN is 3.37 when timed perfectly and what I run it at. Setting it to a true (as in not out of range) 0.00 it runs less well (flat and less mpg). I've tried all variations from -0.1 to +3 and it doesn't run better than the base timed position (timing lock keys).

My cambelt cover had a sticker with a figure around my torsion value, but nobody seems to confirm if this is a factory setting or just coincidence.

so for my problem it was a turbo related...got another turbo no more problems...
