Brakes juddering at high speed

Nearly a month of brake jiddering everyday it has stopped on the way to my mechanic... TYPICAL !! :wtf:

I did think it pulled to the left a little but could not be sure, but it broke nice and smooth and I did not slam on to try clear it either so god knows why it felt fine now.

He did look at the rear disc and said the marings were not right so he is going to take off all my brakes, give them all a good clean and test the rears.
He said the rest of the wear patterns are fine apart from the rear drivers. He said I may need new discs and pads on the other side even though they have only done 2-3k since they were put on, he will try his best to save them though so I dont need new everything.

I asked him about putting new ones on the other side and he asked why if they were working fine, they may last another 10 miles or 50,000 miles, but he did say if they were new from Audi and in poor condition he will look and inspect them and let me know what he thinks.

The drama continues....

Could have been a stone chip or some other stuff got stuck between the pad and disc and it’s managed to work itself loose.

Or maybe just gave the brake pedal a tad more effort over a shorter distance; this usually resolves most 'brake juddering' problems. :thumbs up:

I actually slammed on my breaks at the end of my street to try clear anything.

He said he wont replace them if they are fine, but he did say he was worried about the strange vertical stripes as per my picture.

I should have an asnwer tomorrow.

Good luck, hope its a ZERO cost solution for you.

If he says leave 'em alone then go do the 'bedding-in' procedure, tis what I do for others and invariably works.

Brakes like engines NEED to be worked.

PS: the marks on your discs are overnight/couple of days imprinted brake pad marks - hard braking will sure get rid of those.

My own AUDI FRONT brakes: RS3, TT, SQ5 - ALL using Ferodo Eco-Friction Green brake pads:

RS3 brakes TT brakes SQ5 brakes

Hope this helps...

Thanks @45bvtc I hope so too.
He said they were pretty rusted when he put the pads on before.
In a way I hope they are both gone to get it over with and have nice new anchors LOL
But then I have to repaint my damn calipers again.

Having your brake discs Pro_Cut is a better option than new discs; at least they'd be cut 'TRUE' to the hub: and I strongly recommend Ferodo Eco-Friction Green brake pads for road use - "Already fitted as Original Equipment on Mercedes-Benz C-Class since March 2014 and Audi A4 since September 2015"

Ah thanks for that mate, I never heard of them and they are not too badly priced.
I will remember those and buy them in the future as they get good reviews.

do you have a link to suppliers of these as the cheapest I can find on Autodoc is going to cost me £123 which puts them up with most other pads

I purchased ALL three sets (TT/RS3/SQ5) in May 2019 from www.buycarparts.co.uk (Bolton) and here are the 'then' delivered prices:

8J TT:
FRONT pads: FDB1641 @ 25.43
REAR pads: FDB1636 @ £26.24

8P RS3:
FRONT pads: FDB1877 @ £39.99
REAR pads: FDB1636 @ £26.24

8R SQ5:
FRONT pads: FDB4969 @ 89.98
REAR pads: FDB4190 @ £37.49

same price as autodoc for Audi s3 8v

SOLVED
It was 100% the rear drivers caliper and the pad was ALL KIND OF MESSED UP from it dragging on my disc.
We caught it in time and there was not enough damage to the disc to warrant a replacement.
Drives amazing and the brakes are very responsive, like new again.

See the picture of my 3000mile brakes which were replaced on the rear passenger side.
See a picture of the drivers side where it was rubbing all over the disc where the piston was damaged.
