Hi All,

I hope we are all well and keeping safe.

Well show season this year has been a total write-off as we know, hopefully this is an opportunity to try and get one decent gathering together but it all depends on numbers for us to be able to secure a stand.

Castle Combe Circuit, Action Day Finale 10th October 2020
https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/shows/action-day-finale

Castle Combe shows are my favorite and I can never understand why we struggle on attendance, it isn't just a static show like out regulars you have the circuit which is great to watch too.

I'm hoping with the lack of shows this year for ASN, the turnout will be good. If we do manage to get this to go ahead, I will likely arrange a convoy from a location near to the circuit for us... which is always fun.

Please if you would like to attend, add your name to the list below and access the website via the following link to purchase your ticket. Note it does state on the site the final ticket sales are 23rd September and that they may cut the sales before that date so don’t hang around. Select ‘audi-sport.net’ and use code ‘AUDIFINALE’ to purchase your stand pass.

https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/sh...10/10/2020/action-day-finale-club-member-zone

Please do not purchase general admission tickets in advance, they will need to be associated with the club upon ordering for you to park with us. Thanks to @Sandra as always for making the effort to sort us a club stand :friends:

Hope to see you all there,

Matt.

Wish I could make it but I ship my car back to the US on monday, 3 August.

I will say that it was one of the better events I have ever attended especially watching the cars driving the track and checking out the cars in the paddocks. I would go back if I was still here during that timeframe.

I would also try to take my cat out for a few laps if I could or get a ride in one of the sponsored cars.

Great event.

I may be up for this again if I get the car back together after the engine imploded a few weeks ago.

That is a shame Edgar, thanks for the great feedback though and I wish you a safe trip.

Castle Combe shows are brilliant I just can’t understand why people don’t go for them.

Piston decided it had seen enough abuse and exited the engine. **** Wossner pistons.

Glad I have JE's in mine. Hopefully they last a really long time.

Good luck with the rebuild. There was a batch of JE pistons that weren't measured right for compression ratio (CR), make sure you ask JE or have them measured before throwing them in so you can calculate your CR.

What’s the track time like? Busy? Worth it?

Somehow I haven’t been receiving the email notifications for this thread!! Sorry all.

Track time is usually busy at Combe, drops off in the last hour. I had a show there a few weeks ago, another on the 5th and they’ve stopped general admission to control numbers for COVID. You’d never guess that was the case, very good turn out and constant flow of sessions on track all day.

@AudiNutta what time are you thinking of setting off in convoy and where from?

cheers.

All depends on how much interest I get, but I am on the welsh side of the bridge. Could look to convoy from Magor services on the M4, or failing that we could meet in a car park close to Combe and do the last few miles together.

Thanks for the mention @AudiNutta would be good to make a show this year! I am in the process of moving house, and it’s falls around deadline day!! So depends how quick I can pack and shift boxes :)

How many do we need to secure the stand?

Great news would be good to have you there!! Seems as if the minimum is 4 cars and we currently have 5 definitely going with tickets bought. If you can’t make it I said to Sandra I’d be happy to travel to get the flags, the tent would probably be a good thing to have with the time of year but I’ve no idea how to build it.

Hope your move goes smoothly!

Ok sounds good, it’s an epic 4 ½ hr drive for me. So will need to sort hotel etc.

let me see if I can shuffle some stuff around and I’ll come back to you ASAP.

That is a long drive! It’s only about an hour and a quarter for me. If it’s that far would it still be easier if I got the flags etc?

Latest update....

Due to the recent government announcements regarding local and regional lockdowns, we understand that it is possible there will still be limitations in place for the ACTION DAY FINALE EVENT on Saturday 10th October.

We are emailing to advise that currently we are unable to post anyone a pass for this event who is in a restricted area. There are several options that we can offer to try and make things as easy possible and help/protect all our customers.

1) If you wish to move your booking now to the HALLOWEEN ACTION DAY then please notify us by Midday tomorrow 24th September.

2) If you would like A REFUND then please notify us by Midday tomorrow 24th September.

3) If you wish us to keep hold of your booking and club space until Wednesday 7th October in case you come out of lockdown, you need to do nothing.

If you want us to hold your booking until that date if restrictions change by or before then we can post them to you. If restrictions haven’t changed by that date then unfortunately we will have to move your booking or refund you.

If you have already contacted us regarding your order/pass/transfer then please ignore this email.

Doesn't look promising

At a guess our stand will be cancelled! 5 of us are in the lockdown zone, so it’s as good as cancelled and we won’t be out by the 7th.

Hi all,

My pass arrived today, Monday, (N London resident).

We are directed to enter via the Yellow Gate and drive to plot K14a, which I assume is our stand. So it is not cancelled according to the organizers.

There is a suggested arrival time printed on the pass - because they do not want everyone to arrive at once - of between 7.30 and 7.50 am. Not a chance with a 2 hour drive from North London! There is also "Valid until 9.30 am only" printed on the pass.
I rang Castle Combe this morning and these times are only advisory.

I plan to get there for about 9.00-ish.

I am prepared to help out if I can, including transporting stuff if necessary.

Hi,

Well 5 of us are in the lockdown zone so won’t be going, 4 of which are the main people organising the event. Numbers won’t be sufficient to hold up a stand, to as far as ASN is concerned this is cancelled I believe.

@Sandra can confirm, as myself, James, Josh and Molly won’t be there.

I was the sole representative of the club last Saturday. There was a good crowd of mainly young folk with their modified cars and the track sessions seemed to be well attended. The Mustang tribe were also out in (very loud) force.

World gone mad if you can't have people wandering around in the open. Why is it any different to people walking around the town centre ...
