Hi i recently purchased an a3 8v s line quattro great car but my Bluetooth has only came on 3 times since owning the vehicle. I have been looking for the module and have had both seats out and the carpet up and there is no box hidden under there. Is there any other location it would be in? Thanks

Its either underneath the drivers/passengers carpet or behind the glove box
I cannot think of anywhere else it would go.
Looking online these are the only 2 spots, but looking through posts for you, it may seem to big for the glove box.
Have you tried re-setting the MMI and pairing the bluetooth again? I know stupid IT answer but you never know
Maybe @DJAlix can let you know, he knows everything there is to know about the electrics and where things are located as he installs them

Hi thanks for your reply. I have had both sides carpet up and could only see the bare metal i have tried to reset but nothing happened i have seen the Bluetooth worked 3 times in owning the car 3 months. I just had someone with vcds scan and it said telephone static or something and the 5f module was throwing errors.

Thank you! It has been driving me nuts looking for it. Is it a case of just getting a new unit and connecting it or will a new one need coding in? Thank you again.

You can try for a like for like on ebay or you can get a apple/android unit on aliexpress which I have been talking to djalex about and you have an upgraded system, but that will need coding and install. djalex says he does it for a small fee if needed but he is in london.

Replacement 5F unit would not only need coding but would need anti theft protection and security coding also. Am able to do all this. More than happy to explain if you give me a call during office hours.

Are the units known to fail? Sorry for all the questions its just strange how it works quite rarely. When it was hooked up it said something about updating but thats what i have tried with the sd card. It reads it and can see the card in engineering menu but the start update button is greyed out. Thank you again.

The MIB units and their internal modules (amp, Bluetooth etc) are common failures. The MIB unit is housed in the glovebox with no place for heat to escape so eventually their “cook” themselves.

Another example of poor Audi design ? (eg. air-con condenser)
yup yup, although a better examples of poor design would be the PFL magride top mounts, or the ranges coolent pump, or better yet to new A3 8Y interior lol

You would have thought that Audi would have engineered in, as an afterthought maybe, an air-conditioned glovebox like that of the VW's in order to "better" the MMI failure rate but they never did :(
