Had my roof slashed last week in a carpark :rage:

Reported to the police and the carpark (for CCTV if available) but nothing back yet.

Been advised by a roof specialist that it’ll be a complete roof replacement to fix, it’s been knifed three times. Got two quotes so far but very different, one for £1400 and other just over £3k.

Due to the cost have decided to go through my insurance and they have accepted the claim but the garage they have booked me into won’t view it yet as the car is safe and drivable.

What’s irritating is that due to the age, if the cost is too high my car could be a write off. I would have an option of buying it back minus excess and salvage cost so could then use that to get the roof sorted.

Anyone have any advice/info on roof or gone through anything similar?

Look for a new roof on ebay, and get a garage to replace it should be cheaper

Why do people do this? It can't be jealousy - it's hardly a Lambo or Ferrari (not meaning to belittle your car btw). As above really, get one from a scrappy and do it yourself / local garage. Trouble is, you've reported it to the insurance company so your premium will go up next year regardless of the fact that you may not go through with the claim (barstewards!).

There’s only a few currently on eBay and the prices are quite reasonable but the condition of the roofs are not the best. Not sure how hard it is to clean up a roof.

Haha don’t worry, it’s a 12 year old A3 so I completely agree. My no claims is protected and never claimed before but yep I’ll be stung come renewal time.

Then i suggest you repair it so.its atleast water tight, and just keep am eye out for a good condition roof and check your local scrapys and audi breakers

Just dropped my car off with the garage arranged through my insurance. They will assess the damage and see if it’s worth the cost to fix.

Got a brand new Corsa as a courtesy car, it’s quite nice but no power!

If you don't get any luck, two firms popular amongst the BMW z3 fraternity are Croydon Soft tops and a firm in Swansea - can't remember the name but it's the only one there. Prices can vary enormously with some being ridiculously expensive. In terms of DIY repair kits I've seen good reports on "Stormsure" kits but not tried myself.

I would personally buy a 2nd hand one for about £500 and then you can clean it and then protect it with various products which will bring the new black colour back.

Garage called me this morning and said that my insurance company is happy to go ahead and pay out for the repair. It’s going to be booked in with Audi for a new roof, so pleased!

Glad you’re getting it sorted.
You may want to consider a dash cam going forward, one that records in park mode. so at least you have a chance to catch these types of assh0les in the act...

Yeah I have one but the car wasn’t moved/knocked enough for it to switch the camera on and even if it had all the damage was at the back so was out of sight :crying:

Car has now been with Audi for over 4 weeks. They’ve messed up with ordering the parts they needed so car hasn’t even been touched yet.

Apparently this is the week they can get started...

Lol, bummer and not professional of them

So things have not gone well. Appalling service from Audi in Hereford.

They provided my insurance company with a quote in June but now turns out they didn’t include the actual soft top cover in the quote.

Spoke to Audi on Monday and they told me that they had all parts and were ready to get it signed off this week. Then on Tuesday they provided my insurance company with a new quote which put almost £4K on the cost and now my insurance won’t pay to have it fixed. Meanwhile my car has been sat with Audi for almost 5 weeks under the impression it was being fixed.

I picked the car back up yesterday and logged a complaint with my insurance company. Next steps though is looking like an insurance write-off/salvage repair...

Finally have this resolved now thanks to Hoodtech in Warrington. So pleased with the end result and so happy it’s sorted now!
