Hi Guys & Gals,

Have had a weird experience this week that hopefully someone might shed some light on.

My S3 is currently stage 1 R-Tech and im all ready to go to 2+.

Went to a recommended mapper in my area, has worked on all VAG models getting good figures and a good name for them selves.

Took my S3 in and 6 and half hours later it comes out the same as it went in??

Spent many hours on the computer telling me it keeps crashing flashing back to standard, then loading the map etc etc, time ran out as there where other cars booked in after me so could i take it back next week and leave it there?? To me this does not sound right as i have had many S3's and this is the first i have ever experienced with this.

Is it a case of the R-tech map is locked or something and they are having trouble but wont admit it?

What makes me think this is, 6 hours of messing about, but when i was told time run out can i take it back would you prefer the R-tech map back on or go standard that took 10/15 minutes to do to get rid of me.

Just something doesn't seem right to me. And i dont feel like im being told the truth.

Any feedback much appreciated :)

May sound obvious, but have you called R-Tech? Probably the best answer you will get!

Hi mate, No i haven't as i was going to give the Company the benefit of doubt see if they get back to me like they said if not i will ring R-tech and get it booked in there and save all the hassle then i suppose.

Did they give you a before (R-Tech Stage 1) and after (their map stage 2) dyno print out?
Most tuners lock their maps but that only stops the crooks copying them, it shouldn't prevent another tuner over-writing their map.
I'd be very wary of some of the one-man band tuners that are popping up as inevitably they are using the generic 'copied' maps that are ok (just) for stage 1 but that's about it.

If R-Tech is within 200 miles of your home location, I see no reason to go elsewhere.
If they are further away than that, book a room at a B&B and STILL go to R-Tech. Genuinely don't think you'd get a better service than from them.

Give RTech a call. If you have an RTech Stg1 map on currently it may have been easier to stick with them.

Feels like your new mapper doesn’t have a clue - maybe there is issues that took 6 hours to diagnose, but then offering to put the RTech map back in doesn’t make sense. If they could load a stock base map then the ECU can’t be locked? If the can reapply a Stg1 map then the ECU can’t be locked?

Just book with RTech. If they have similar issues at least they will help fix.

Thanks for the help and advise guys. I should of stuck with R-Tech like i had planned but this option was 10 minutes down the road and making a good name for them selves. Perhaps its just one of them things but i felt i wasn't being told the truth.

Will Give R-Tech a ring and try get it in ASAP.

Thanks Again

R-Tech have like a 6-8 week waiting list :(

Any other Tuners out there as cant go APR any more as the stage 2+ Tune has been discontinued.

You could have a word with Bill at Badger 5, He is near Stroud.
