After its rained or the car has been washed, opening the boot on my A6 Avant releases a gush of water into both of the side grooves. Normally the water just drains away onto the ground but if its windy, the water starts getting into the car's interior as well. Just wondering is this totally normal for the A6 Avant? If not, then maybe my car is missing some protection seals?

Think it is normal and is imply the water on the glass and elsewhere on the tailgate that has not flowed off with it in the closed position now flowing because you have opened the tailgate. On the C7 it used to pour down the sides of the car - really annoying if you had just dried the car after washing.

Yep quite normal, I've got used to opening the boot half way on wet days and letting any collected water drain off. Not ideal having to work round a design flaw on an 'expensive' car but you get used to it.

If you think it’s bad on the A6, spare a thought for those of us with the A7 platform :scared2:

i seen this today seems the water collects inside the gloss black strips on either side of the rear window?
