Hi everyone
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
I have 2007 a6 c6 with the monochrome screen. It has a 10 speaker system with an amp. I tried to upgrade to the color screen and took the dashboard apart thinking it would be an easy swap. It isnt. I have all the parts from the donor car and mine tore apart. Im including some photos. If any1 has done this before or has any info please help. Thank u in advance.

You need screen, new trim panel for the later screen, new control head (The MMI unit in the glove box needs to be removed) new video cable between the control head & screen, wiring harness to convet the MMI Basic module to the control head module, component protection removing and finally coding of the control head to make it compatible with the module on your car. It's not a quick or simple job.

Hi and thank u for the detailed reply. Im new at this and wasnt able to pm u here for some reason. I wish could post more pics to show. I have the big screen with the trim panel, radio unit located in the glove box with a 6 disc changer, bose amplifier with dvd unit which r mounted in the trunk, and all the wiring from the donor car. I recently replaced all the speakers with the bose ones using the amplifier i already had and all the conectors were the same. Sounds ok. So i thought the screen would be an easy swap 2. Taking the glove box off i saw that the radio unit wiring was taped together with other wiring that went up into the dashboard. I dont want to be touching anything i shouldnt and no1 here seems to be wanting to take the job. I put it back together as it was with a few scratches on the trim . And yes ur absolutely right its not a simple job. Im also looking on ebay for an android 10 inch chinese unit ( comes with new trim), keeps all the old functions and all the buttons work as before. I would def appreciate ur advice on it. All the best.

New rules in place to stop scammers on the forum, you have to have I think about 20+ posts before you can PM.

I've never touch or seen the android units so cannot comment on them. On the Bose speakers side the standard speakers are 4ohm and the Bose are 2ohm, so you could end up either damaging the speakers or the AMP long term.

Its a great forum with overqualified ppl like u . I will get to the 20+ posts at some point not giving up. I previosly had bose speakers that were 2 OHM and did not install. These ones all read 4 Ohm ,should be fine yea?. I have had them for a couple of days and no issues. Though i wonder if the sound would improve by installing the bose amp i have. I want to gather as much info and knowledge as possible on the mmi retrofit and will give it another go soon. I used to own a 2005 merc w203 and the navi/screen swap was plug n play. This on the other hand requires audi university. Any classes here
Thank u and have a great day.
