My B7 is getting old and the outer weather strips have failed. I was chasing replacements from someone breaking but they only sell the doors complete.... I did manage to find someone who was willing to separate, whom I paid, but when he went to remove them said it was too hard and refunded my money... Now my question is, is there a way to replace the rubbers without stripping the doors to pieces?

I would be tempted to buy some cheap damaged doors (with good weather strips) and swap the entire window sub assembly over.
Moving/refitting rubber especially stuff that's old almost never goes back together correctly. This way would be nut and bolt swap only.
