Hi all,

Been a little while since I was last on.
We’re having an issue with connecting an iPhone 11 to the MMI system. My wife’s phone connects to calls ok but then after a minute it drops connection & wont allow you to end the call in the MMI. Then she can’t reconnect the phone without trying three or four times first. Sometimes it won’t allow her to answer a call either & just gets stuck.

anybody recognise this issue as a common fault & know of any fixes? I’m at Audi just now & they’re trying to charge us £156 for diagnostic despite having an Audi extended warranty.

They’re also saying it may be the phone that’s the problem.

Is the iPhone 11 firmware up to-date? Can you try a different iPhone 11 on it?
Kick up a fuss with Audi, because you have the warranty. Dealers just like to fob people off, until you make a fuss bout stuff.

I just asked the Missus to update the phone while we were in Audi. It’s on a very recent version though.

Mine’s an iPhone X, but I’ll see if anyone at her work has an iPhone 11 that she can test on it.

If not, I’ll kick up a fuss as you say lol.

Cheers.

Does your handset have issues too or just hers?

Just hers, though I don’t use the car nearly as often & the phone even less while driving. So I may just not have noticed.

Just picking the car up now & after their reset & update, I can’t even open Audi Connect. So they appear to have made it worse. Before, we couldn’t access Google Earth as a nav overlay in addition to the phone issue, but now can’t access Connect at all. They said my data SIM may have run out of data but I only bought it in December & we’ve been on lockdown since, so I doubt I’ve gone through it all.

If they have done a full reset of the MMI system you may need to tell the car it has a SIM for data and not use the built in eSIM

Same thing happens with mine. Its very frustrating. Had mine in at Audi and they couldn't find anything wrong with it either.

I did take the SIM out & put it back in. Would that not prompt the car to recognise a SIM has been entered? We tried the SIM in another A6 on the forecourt too & that also said “service unavailable” when we tried to open Connect.

Ive had the Audi extended warranty since the manufacturer 3 year warranty ran out. They said I need to rule out the SIM running out of data first. Then they can progress the investigation by getting a donor control unit & trying it in my car to see if that solves the problem, in which case my control unit is faulty & will be replaced under warranty.

Bit frustrating though that I could open Audi connect before taking it to the dealer. Then when picking the car up, I can no longer access Connect and there’s an almighty squeal on the brakes. Sounds like a clown horn when you brake now :wtf:

Wifey said the brakes felt spongey too when she drove it out of Audi. Maybe I’m being paranoid, but what have they done to my car while it’s been in there?!
