My 2014 S5 is due a major service so I had a quote from Audi dealer and one from an indy. The Audi quote for a major service, replace brake fluid and replace the poly v belt is £725, the indy quote is £650. I'm surprised the indy quote is so close to Audi's, does this sound right?

Parts cost will be key for an Indy tbh.

Whereabouts are you located?

Yes - and typically indies have to pay a higher price for oils than the dealers, and they have no choice but to pass it on.

I was expecting a much lower indy quote in comparison to an Audi dealer. I've tended to use indy's for my Mercedes as they are quite a bit cheaper but if this is not the case with an Audi then maybe the dealer is not so bad after all.

I would be prepared to pay my indie MUCH more that I would an Audi dealer, just to have the confidence that someone competent is working on my car. However he is still cheaper than a dealer and so I also pay a gratuity. (Actually I only just started doing that due to the covid situation but I think I'll keep doing it).

I just had my 14 S5 @ 65000 miles done at North east Motors Aberdeenshire.
£1350 for full service inc Replacement rear discs and pads, Supercharger belt and all front suspension linkages changed.
All Audi parts used.
They reckon they are 60% cheaper than the Audi dealer.
The only thing left is the gearbox oil due on the next service

Labour charges presumably.

Had the service done yesterday at the local indy. Inspection service plus spark plugs and brake fluid change was just under £500. I asked them to check the poly v-belt and replace if necessary but it wasn't done so must be OK.

Does anyone know the service interval for the sports diff, I forgot to ask the indy.

Had the oil changed on my S5 sports diff today even though my indy said the diff is sealed for life. The RS5 sports diff needs an oil change at 58k miles so I see no reason why the S5 shouldn't be the same.

I'm in Hertfordshire.
I'm in Herts too mate, I use a specialist in Hitchin called VW Audi Specialists, always been brilliant. You tried them? They're down the road from Audi Hitchin
