Facelift S3 hunting under light acceleration

what a weird thing to have caused a running problem

Your suspicions are right as the problem is still there, so back to square one.

Just did a log on VCDS and here is what it looks like, 70%throttle, 5th gear, manual mode, smooth road, slightly uphill.

Revs in blue, throttle input in orange.

Didnt realise auto's had a dual mass flywheel. that's news to me.

Yes, as the S-Tronic is really a manual box with automatic clutches it has basically the same interface to the engine.
Torque converter gearboxes wouldn't have one.

So I took the car out last night to try to see if my BIL could shed any light on the issue, he could detect the issue immediately and was convinced it was still a misfire, even stood at the side of the road to see what the exhaust sounded like.

I wanted to show him that traction wasn't an issue so did a Launch Control and the issue has now gone, car driving smooth and pulling hard with no lumpiness. I tried it again this morning and still smooth. :openmouth:

So a Launch a day keeps the Mechanic away :tongueout:

That’s so strange, I’m not sure how I’d feel about driving a car which was fixed using launch control

To be fair it's the only thing that's worked for Mikemod to date including it being in the main dealers for weeks

Unfortunatly it has returned after a few days so back to square one, maybe just keep doing Launch Controls.

Would it be dangerous to drive with the ABS fuse removed, probably not very wise :tonguewink:

After further test drives and mettings with Audi technical my car is back into the dealers to have the S-Tronic clutch packs replaced.

Interesting thread. Hope it gets sorted for you mate...Stick to your guns if they (AudiGermany) start fobbing you off.:icon thumright:

Sounds like the issue mine had when I bought it,

Turned out to be an injector issue, went back to Audi, had new injectors fitted and new timing chain/tensioner as they suspected contamintation.

Runs sweet now.

All eight injectors have already been replaced but unfortunately it didn't make any difference.

I got my car back again today with new clutch packs fitted and what a difference, the fault has finally completely gone.
Just crossing my fingers for the next few weeks but it is pulling like a train again with no hiccups.

Hats off to Audi Belfast who have been superb through all this especially with only having 50% workshop coverage due to the Covid issues.
I have never been left without a car even delivering it to my house when I couldn't make it in.

Great result mate:icon thumright:
You should give the garage a decent review on the forum. If they are listed on here?
