I’ve a dec 14 facelift A6 with MMI and wireless phone charging.

I picked up two weeks ago and charging didn’t work but I thought it might my iPhone X but I tried it on a charging mat and it works.

I also tried a second iPhone X and it didn’t work.

Has anyone any tips that might get it working?

Thanks.

Does your pad have the qi logo like in this image, if not then your car only has the wireless signal booster, not wireless charging.

AUDI connect & AUDI phonebox is not wireless charging. There was a my change around my 17 where it was standard on techpack cars (not sure about rmc systems).

It’s clear enough despite the cables in the way that there is no logo

It’s a shame as I have an IPhone X.

But realistically I’ll always connect the lightening cable.

Once the phone placed on that mat is its signal boosted to get better call quality?

I would have thought hardwiring it with cable would be much better

That is just a signal booster, but I've not noticed any different when placing the phone on there.

Thanks.

Its disappointing that when I got the spec off Audi reading phone box and saw that mat that I thought it was wireless charging but no biggie as wireless charging is too slow.

That signal booster, is it a case of the iPhone has to be laid flat on it and it will use the cars antenna?

I thought once I connect via lightening cable it would use the antenna but hard wired

The USB socket is not connected in any way to the cars aerial system.

I’m surprised by that.

Thanks for the info.

Next step for my is to see can firmware be updated to allow CarPlay!

You can swap the phone box for wireless charging. Just swap it and do 2 lines of adaptions changes and 1 coding in the 5F. Thats it.

For CarPlay you need the activation document and get it done with Odis Online.

Audi dealer won't retrofit on older models, but there are business members on the forum that will upgrade your firmware and active carplay via licensed version of ODIS.

Great thanks.

Is it all firmware and software upgrades or does any hardware have to change?

I’ve a facelift 2015 C7 with MMI plus

As you have a facelift C7 with the MIB2 platform you just need firmware & activation.

Apologies for jumping in on this thread. My car, a my17 A7, can take the Carplay/Android Auto update. Audi quoted me £500 to do so, and I kindly declined at that much. I've seen the license document for sale on ebay for £270, which I would be willing to pay. How then would I get it activated without using a dealer (who are pretty much quoting the same again for labour!!).

Again apologies for jumping in, but I didn't know about this 'odis' thing and I've been looking into this since I had my car last year.

According to Audi website 2017 A6 and A7 can be updated.

What I’d love to find out is how can my 2015 facelift A6 be updated

I have a 2015 A6 C7 with the phone box that serves to amplify the signal, WITHOUT wireless charge.
I am thinking of buying the phone box with wireless 4G1035502 but I have no assembly diagrams or coding. Can you help me? Thank you.

Do you have to remove the centre console and armrest to install this?

Hi RJ, I booked my eurotunnel ticket to go the Netherlands, Nijmegen before UK added the Netherlands to the quarantine list. I have postponed the trip but would be there as soon as the quarantine list is reviewed favourably to see my family. Where are you please? My car is A6 2015 facelift MIB II. Would like to retrofit wireless charger and CarPlay.

Have a read of this thread. I have it activated on my 2016 S7 2 years ago using this guy.

Read hear.

I’m pretty sure DJAlix Can do retro fit the wireless charger. And I definitely know he can activate CarPlay, as he done it on my 64plate FL A7. As long as to have the Top MMI with bigger screen.

Edit I read somewhere, that he’s away and will be back in the uk in September. He’s based in north London.

Before you invest in a wireless charging retrofit, make sure your phone fits in the OEM space as it’s actually quite small.
My Samsung Note 20 Ultra doesn’t fit in the space under the armrest :racer:

The Standard iPhone 11 is a tight fit!
