hopefully picking up a b8 which is spot on in every respect apart from the white headling!
I have found a complete black kit but wondering how easy a job it is to swap out, anyone ever done it or maybe know of a reputable firm or individual that I could pass to buck to lol

Erwin states it a windscreen out job on the B8. On older models B5, 6 & 7 it was out the door job. It may be possible to try and get it out the doors, but most likely you will need to remove the seats, and center console so it can be removed with minimum or no bending. Time wise it's easier to remove the glass but would add to the cost as you will need a pro glass fitter and they will not be able to guarantee the screen can be removed without damage to the glass.

Either way headliners are a pain in the backside to remove, as I've just removed and refitted one on my B5 as I had to repair the sunroof cassette, and I hope I never need to remove it again..

Ask the seller of the black headliner kit how they got it out!

It's come from a breakers so I would thought it was through the screen, I reckon seats out and go very careful!

Sorry I didn't see the reply, you can get them out through the boot if you are careful, so I am informed.

I think the idea is you use several pieces of strap ideally or clothesline if you’re careful, make a few wraps to very slightly bend it. I haven’t done it but I will do at some point so if you do it first I’d be interested to hear about it!

I’ve spoken to 2 or 3 car interior folk who seemed decent and none seem to remove the windscreen, although it would be ideal to do so.

That sounds like a plan! I reckon the best approach is that you do it first and then fill me in on the details...:whistle2::icon thumright:

It is possible, look at slr slrebuild on YouTube, he did it in an s5 recently iirc
