Hi,

I did a brake conversion on my 2016 A4 avant 2.0 tfsi 252bhp. I upgrade the front and rear brakes from a 2017 S5 F53 3.0 Petrol 354bhp. I modded the rear brakes so that they have the dust cap on it (see pics for end result).
The discs are oem Audi S5. The brakepads front are Brembo (p85165)and rear ATE (AT602796). I also upgraded the brakelines to braided. Cosmetically I am fully satisfied. They look oem enough to me.

The brake performance is better with harder braking. The general feel of the conversion is different. My only problem left now is the smoothness of the brakes. It's not that smooth as the oem brakes. Mainly the first centimeters that you press the pedal is where the oem brakes were just perfect. Now you first have to find/feel the brake pressure and from there it's the same (but stronger) brake pressure as before.
Does anyone know how to improve the smoothness? Or is acceptance key here?

The other thing is that te discs are getting really hot. Truth be told is stress them a lot but i didn't notice before they were getting so hot. Would perforated discs help?

Your issue is most likely the bore of the brake master cylinder.
I am guessing the bore of a master cylinder for the standard a4 brakes and the S5 are different hence it feels over servoed and take little pressure to get the force.
This is always most noticeable when lightly braking .

I thought of that to so went to the dealer to find out. Turns out the master cylinder of both cars are the same.

Well thats good , it still sounds like a master cylinder issue.
With regard to heat, drilled grooved don't really reduce heat but de glaze pads however are always noisier.
You are better with a high quality plain disc than a cheap drilled grooved one.

All discs are vented to dissipate heat ( on this type of car anyway)

Thanks for the help! I drive with the upgrade a few weeks now and I'm getting used to the new brake feel. It not as sophisticated as before, but much more stopping power in return. Since it's possible to brake late i notice there is a new phenominom i acquired: brake fading.
So now i'm trying to figure out a way to cool my brakes with drive wind for a more consistent brake response.
I really love the proces and the new challenges that come with it :)

I would suggest looking at pads as this will be the issue before the discs.
Also make sure the fluid is fresh and the system well bled.
It takes time for pads to bed in but totally stock setup with fresh standard discs and pads will take alot of abuse before they fad if everything is 100%

I've got new Brembo pads, fresh fluid and a well bled system. The discs are original S5 . Still the fading starts fairly quickly after i make a few rounds with heavy braking.

Humm how does it feel

As said: it not as sophisticated as before, but you have more stopping power at your disposal. Since it's possible to brake harder and stronger the brakes start to fade after a few rounds heavy braking./

So my question in how does the fade feel ?
Does the pedal get softer and softer or does it feel firm but no bite q

It's only at the end of hard braking. The het pedal keeps feeling firm but it's like there is a coushin of air between the brakes.

Thanks thats what I needed to know as i can surmise from the feel the issue.
I would try something like a Pagid RS19 pad if available for your caliper but you will loose some cold braking feel but not too much.

Avoid the likes of EBC greenstuff
