Right,
Having to enter my email address in my car every day because "this user hasn't been seen in the car" for a while is really getting on my nerves. That's if my password will even be recognised, app won't log on today, password reset doesn't work - i just get "server error, the server error sent an invalid response" after changing password and trying to log in.

Can you delete all this account garbage and just have a car that turns on the radio when I get in it without having to select a user/guest/press buttons on the screen to select accounts/remove prompts to enter email adress/log in to myaudi?

I just want the radio to come on, just like when I turned the car off!

Are you in a new model, with the larger touch screen display (as standard) with the latest MIB3 interface? Or easier for me to ask what model and model year have you?

Sorry, yes it's a 2020 with mib3

Trying to avoid taking it back as my local dealer is over an hours drive each way. They probably wouldn't be much use anyways!

To cut to the chase then, this it is a known issue with Audi.

I took delivery of a 2020MY A5 Sportback S-Line earlier this month. I set it up as a dream within moments. The keys were in the car, ignition off, I was wondering around my driveway adiring the car, looking around the insides of it. I went back to the drivers seat 30 minutes later and it said I had been away from the car for too log and to re-log-in.

I re-logged in and I wasn't recognised. Then the system got into a tizz and kept going round in circles and so was I trying to suss it.

Here's what to do.

1. Delete your My Audi user log in details from the user screen until you only have GUEST or GUEST USER as the only user.

2. Reset the MMI. Do this by having the electrics on, the ignition on.

3. WARNING: This will factory reset the car, so any sound settings you have (bass and treble), favourites in the sat nav, etc will be lost.

4. Reset the MMI by pressing and holding down for around 10 seconds the small rotary volume controll knob until the screen vanishes and re-sets the MMI

5. When the sytem had reset and you are back to a fresh set up, then go about inputting your My Audi username and password as normal.

6. NOTE: You will always have a GUEST USER setting in the system along with any additional users you add. This is to prevent someone borrowing your car and having access to your sav nav history, personal details, etc. When you start the car you will have your username on the screen and GUEST. If you don't secure your details with a PIN you won't have the hassle of inputtiing a PIN everytime you use the MMI.

Thankyou for helping.

Done all that . Now get "you could not be logged. Please try again later" on the mmi when trying to log in.

Good god, it's really hard to love this new car at the moment.

Can't I just have it so it turns on like a normal car (like my A4 B6, B7 and B8 did!) ? I don't need or want all this profile stuff....

Yep, it's exactly what I had when they system got into a tizz.

You have to re-set the MMI.

Follow the steps above to delete all users, factory reset the MMI and start again. Perhaps after sut the car down for 10 miniutes or so before trying to log in again.

It does work as it worked for me with the same hassle you are experiencing. Since then, I've never had to log in again. Just tap my name on the MMI screen when I start the car up

Had to walk away from it for a while. It is really starting to wind me up.

Locked it in the works car park and will leave it to power down before trying again in an hour or so.

tap my name on the MMI screen when I start the car up

Even this annoys me, I know it's not the end of the world having to press a button but why can't it just start up where it left off? I'm the only person who uses my car.

Blame the Euopean Union for that! It's to comply with GDPR and safety / security of your data.

For example you may not want someone borrowing your car to know where you have been... or the dealer's service department guy working on your car - or even if your car was stolen, the thief will see where "home" is on your sat nav if you have that and "work" stored. If you PIN protect this, you will have to imput your PIN. If not, like me - just tap the screen. In days it wil be second nature.

Interestingly my Arteon also requires the click to select ok to a user, but my A6 just registers the user to the key and auto logs in with no “ok” to press. Surely the “ok” can be removed with vcds / odb11.

All sorted. Well, it was.

Procedure above worked a treat. For 3 days.

Had to log in again this morning . Absolute joke of a car.

There’s a firmware update to fix this.
I had mine updated my2020 BE and it’s been fine since.
I posted in the massive technical issues thread.

Worth reading this thread: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/massive-it-failure-affects-all-audi-2020-a4-vehicles.411321/

A known issue and the only way you'll get it solved is through a firmware update at the dealer to version 3281 i'm afraid.
If you give them a ring, quote the TPI number aswell (2059215) so that they can't try and tell you you're already on the latest version.

Understand it's a pain being an hour either way for you to your nearest dealer, but worth it to ensure you can enjoy the car. I've been running the 3281 version now for about the last 6 weeks, and it's been faultless!

Good luck!

Appreciate the help thus far gents.

Its one of many things that annoy me about this car. A bit of a lesson learned in not really test driving a car thoroughly enough - 10 minutes round the block at the dealers is woefully inadequate. My fault though, I appreciate that.

I think it will be up for sale in the coming weeks sadly. I just haven't gelled with it.

Well it's managed 3 days in a row now with no additional log in requests! We could be on for a record here!

Probably the worst car I've bought in 20+ years but for some odd reason my Mrs loves it so I've given it to her to use for the majority of the time.

Well I couldnt deal with this cars "characteristics" any longer so I sold it.

Cracking price from WBAC so I bit their hands off and washed my hands of it.

Very disappointed with the whole car /experience to be fair. Not a patch on my old B6+B7 from a few years ago.

Glad to see the back of it so onwards and upwards to something better hopefully....
