Hi folks,

I've had the motor for a about 5 months. Everything's been fine apart from using a bit of of oil. Over the last few weeks it's developed a bit of a shudder/misfire, pretty minor although once or twice it has got quite bad for a few seconds and then calmed down again. No engine codes. Just replaced the PCV valve as I had suction when I took the oil cap off. Nothing's changed, still got a fair bit of suction from the cap, no leaks in the PCV pipes. Ignition coils show no obvious signs of anything wrong. Was planning in getting a carbon clean but probably clutching at straws with this issue. Anything else I should be looking for before I take it in?

Cheers

Fill it with super unleaded and take it for an Italian tuneup?

Update:

Had a carbon clean which seems to have done a whole load of nothing. No misfires or anything on OBD. Problem seems to be getting slightly worse, or more consistent at least. Still no real effect on performance or fuel consumption though. The old Italian tune up also hasn't fixed the problem lol

Just a hydrogen clean from UK CC Auto Techs. For 100 odd quid thought it was worth a shot.

Problem is still there and consistent now and driving me nuts. Cant get the car into the mechanics for 3 weeks! Thinking it has to be an air leak somewhere but no idea where. Either that or a timing issue?? Just seems odd that its not throwing any codes and no misfires showing up on OBD. Other thoughts was engine mounts as it happens all through the rev range but I don't think so. Its not uniform enough, definitely feels like a jolty misfire sort of thing. Anymore wisdom anyone??

Does your car sound like a freewheeling bike chain when you let off the accelerator at all? The wastegate actuators are known to be dodgy on this engine so could it be related to that or turbo. Won't always throw up a fault code either. Lots about it on places like Audizine which have more American owners with the 2.0TFSI engined A4's.

Yeah, no noise like that and no real effect on performance which makes me think its not turbo related. Just went for a drive then and it seems like once the engine is warm the problem only exists below about 1500 rpm

For those following along at home, dodgy fuel injector. Finally packed it in completely and got stuck on, flooding the engine. Had to disconnect the battery to stop it and get it towed to my mechanic as its an intake off job to change injectors on these. Annoying but problem is now solved!
