I'm thinking about selling my S3. It currently has the MIB2 and the v2 B&O amp retrofitted to it so that I could get Apple CarPlay.

If I remove this and put my car back to how it was (I have the original items I removed from the car; MIB1, B&O amp, centre console insert and AMI connector), will Component Protection kick in again when I re-fit my old parts?

Im thinking of getting the retro fit to my pfl. Eventually I would like to get VC as well. Are you interested in selling?

Well the reason to remove it is to sell it on so yes I would be selling, just not sure when. I have the MIB2 (8V1 035 035 C), the B&O amplifier (81A 035 466 B), the base for the amplifier (81A 907 390), MMI controls (centre console) (8V0 919 614 BJ), the external connectors (81A 035 736), stowage compartment (8V0 863 300 C) and the wiring loom.

AMP will have component protection for sure, MIB unit would depend on how your MIB2 unit was retrofitted but most likely you will be able to just connect your old unit.

The replacement amp had CP which you removed for me. So you think when I reinstall my original amp, CP will activate on that?

The MIB2 is an “unlocked” unit.

100000000000% it will activate. A vehicles gateway can only “hold” one of everything. Removing your new amps CP purged your old amp from the system.

MIB1 should be good to go then :)

So you’re not sitting on the fence then Thanks
