Av driven the latest M4/M3 cars and have to say that they where the most unforgiving cars l have ever driven....suspension was as hard as a Whores Heart.....loved the looks but no use as a daily driver
I've done a few miles in the Ateca today and I can honestly say it's way more comfortable than the S3. Even in Cupra mode it glides along smoothly.:racer:

After some reading/watching vids,The new S3 is extremely dissapointing from my own point of view ...its more of a makeover job than it is an all new model ...yup the audi fanboy in me is truly saddened ....av a better car in my driveway ....new car offers nothing extra over my car...just cant get my head round Audi .....bringing out a car like this....everything barring the touchscreen mmi is basically the same....it even has the same fooking steering wheel.....And l think the motoring press are going to be all over it like a rash giving it bad reviews and rightly so.....

Agree mate, you have a way better car, specced up, great colour, design pack etc etc. Audi had a great chance to up the ante against the competition. But yet again like with the weird diesel choice for S4, SQ5, etc they could lose more, or at least not entice “upgrades”

Forgot to add most importantly its not enough of difference in every dept...to get into more debt ....mate Audi had a great chance as all the competition had already played their cards....

That’s what I find strange, the competition has been out for a while now but Audi have pretty much presented a mechanically same car, a tweaked exterior and a new interior.

I wouldn’t be borrowing more money to swap yours, either keep it or go for something completely different.

imo mate ... hold onto your stunning S3 a bit longer and consider going RS3. It’s more time to save cash to put towards it and plan on keeping it say 4 years instead of 3, then the figures won’t be far off an S3 over 3 years. I think this way you’ll feel like you’ve got a truly brand new car & an upgrade :icon thumright:

Yes Audi have played it safe, but too safe on this occasion and kinda taken a step backwards with little or no progression other than a few visual tweaks. It’s certainly why I defected to Merc which did feel fresh & brand new to me. I may be tempted back to an RS3 at some point, but I am quite happy atm.

What model was your Saloon

Mine was a PFL model, but I drove both.

The only thing better about the S3 was the interior build quality, and the B&O sound system. Everything else I preferred the A35, it was a more engaging drive, it had vastly superior technology and it looked fantastic.

Audi configurator UK is now working on both S3 Sportback and Saloon.

I know it's only just been released by very disappointed on what comes standard and what optional extra. No VC plus, Pan Roof Sun blind still manual operated, Even have to pay extra for Ambient lighting! and not much for the different types of alloy wheels design's either.

Them Side skirt's really should been in the body colour of the car.

Looks like you have to purchase the Vorsprung edition For VC plus and magnetic ride.

OMG those base wheels and bog standard virtual cockpit are nasty :grimacing:

Where are the nicer alloys shown on the publicity cars as not even an upgrade option ?

Sometimes you can be blinded wanting the next newest thing and expect it (rightly so) to be much better than what you have. On this occasion, that may not be the case.

The nicer alloys will come with Edition 1 and Vorsprung versions I guessing.

It's a good looking car, but Audi are really messing it up when it come to the extra's and wheels, even the colour range is not so good. I was hoping for a flat met grey like BMW Storm bay grey.

Agree the alloys that are offered on there are awful. Why not offer the bigger virtual cockpit as an option, people shouldn’t have to buy a ‘special edition’ to get the options they want

Also incredibly annoying is the standard kit, so great folding mirrors and HHA are now standard, which on a £35k+ they should always have been anyway but compared to the 8V gen heated seats are now an option, it’s like they give with one hand and take away with another :wtf:

Wow! Scary. My last A6 Avant was under £40k with loads of options, but then was run out model with upgraded leather, full electric seats, matrix lights etc etc, but shows how prices have shot up. Many on here got there last S3 for not much more than low £30k's. Obv. saloon vs. SB is different.

RS3 saloon is going to easily be £55k-£60k surely

That is similar money to an A35 or M135i when you actually start adding options you would want/need.

It will depend on what, if any discounts Audi want to offer.

From experience Mercedes and BMW will be doing offers on theirs, when I bought the A35 I had specd the car to around £44k but the actual discounts brought it well under £40k

Think I managed to get this edition 1
To 55k the translator wasn’t helping me to be fair so I think I ordered 24kt exhaust tips
Lol

even the S/B is pricey. Ok, almost £6k of options, but isn't that normal ;-)

Yeah same here it was around £45k for my 2016 RS3 ... but its looking like £55k to £60k for a similar specced 2021 RS3 ... how can they justify £10k to £15k more in 5 years ?

Equivalent Spec RS3 (No Audi Sport Pack, but comes with stuff S3 doesn't), but obv. "old" model:
Personally I would add Audi Sport Pack, so would take up to £52k ish OTR

Seeing the new S3 it's made the decision to keep mine longer an easy one
