IPA Rubdown Question

Hi all,

I cleaned my car at the weekend, and gave it an isopropyl alcohol "buff off" after the wash (1:3 IPA/water dilution). I did this as the car is being wrapped and I wanted to clear the paint of any polish after removing fallout etc.

Now, i've done full weekends of claying and polishing in the past and it never turned out this clean. Specifically, the immovable water spots, window grease and everything else was gone ... this is expected as it is a solvent.

My question is, would repeating this process damage the clearcoat/plastics? I think the dilution is high enough to keep the plastics safe, but I don't know if the AMAZING finish is down to removing a layer of clearcoat?

Is it safe to do time after time?

This is the first time I saw my black car looking as good as the paint can be. The photos are from a quick 1 hour wash, no polishing or other products except a gentle foam and IPA rubdown with an MF.

Absolutely, but it doesn't hurt to give them a car free of iron, road grease and dirt as a starting point.

It's probably not the best thing for rubber and soft plastics, and it will degrade any way or polymer based sealants you have on the surface, bit it certainly will not harm the clear coat or coats such as ceramic.

I use CarPro Eraser as a wipe down after a wash at least once a week. It certainly doesn't hurt, and I find that it improves the shine and hydrophobics of coated surfaces when they are completely clean and clear.

Yeah i'd absolutely not apply it to weather seals, interior plastics or anything like that.
