As the title suggests, I've added the comfort option to my S4 Cab B6 (2005 54 plate) but they only open about an inch, and the fob can't close them.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening and not the correct behaviour?

Thanks, Matt

(Image shows how much they go down (via fob).

Could be a silly question but are you keeping the remote button pressed until the windows fully open?

Thanks for the reply and suggestion, Phil.

Yes I am fully holding the buttons expecting the windows to go up or down depending on the button being held.

If holding the unlock button, the windows open to the point that is pictured, and then nothing. If holding the lock button, the windows do nothing. Very confused..

So, a small update. The windows do close, if the rear windows are closed. So, I can close the front windows only with the fob. I guess the windows would fully open too, if the rears didn't open. Anyone heard of this? Very strange behavior...

In VCDS set the car as an avant, that will sort your issue.

46 Central convenience
Adaption 10
Channel 62 then READ
Type 95 in the new value
Hit TEST
Hit SAVE
Hit DONE GO BACK

Now coding 07
Add 256 to your coding (this is avant) if you have already coded the windows then that should be it. If not also add 64 to your code, that's comfort function via remote

Make note of your original code before changing it

Hi VagCabby, thanks for the detailed reply. Will putting the convenience module as avant have any ill effects?

Any reason why cabs can't/shouldn't have the windows work on the fob? Or just the rear windows even?

Will try when home from work, thanks.

Only thing it does is stops you being able to open the roof via the key in the door. At the moment you should be able to put the key in the door and turn the key twice and the roof will open, coding the car as an avant will stop this feature but make the windows via remote work. I've had it done in mine for 3 years. I wasn't bothered about the roof opening via the lock as the windows down while walking to the car was better!

Thanks for another great response. Will try that with the roof, but would rather have the windows up and down when walking to and from the car. Will probably add the smart top module at some point anyway..

Thanks again

Solved! Thnaks @VagCabby - just added 256 (avant) to the coding and it all works.

Tried the roof down thing with key (didnt know about it before), didnt work. have a couple of faults from "auto roof" that I need to investigate. Think I need a new battery (see below). But that doesn't bother me, as my windows go down!! Thanks again VagCabby

02000 - Switch Position
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
00532 - Supply Voltage B+
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

Edit; actually my roof got stuck the other day while working on it and had to do it manually, didn't have time to do a scan after that so these faults could be related to that. Clearded them though and will check in a week or so.

Glad it worked for you mate, its a nice little feature to have that should have been on the car from factory. I have seen alot of people struggle to get it working due to not knowing about adding the avant code.

Sorry for digging up a really old thread, but just trying to sort mine here right now
It's a B6 Avant and the coding for Comfort Module 46 is is 7115, so the Avant seems to be correct and the comfort function via remote also
When I went to Adaptation for channel 062, it was set at 95. I had already tried it with this setting using the remote, but no luck.
I have no sunroof, and the rear windows are manual
From what I can see, my value should be 15, so I altered it and then tried again and still nothing
Is there something blatantly obvious I am missing here?
Appreciate any input please

Looks like I had to lock the car and re-open or something, but it's working now, so please ignore
