Hi,

Noticed some noise around the back today went and had a look and from what i can see all of the attachments for the head shield are no longer.
Any idea on what should be here and how to fix it?
Is this a common issues? As all of them are gone and look very rusted.

They are very thin bits of spring steel. Not a big issue. Just buy something like this on ebay or if not sure what type get them from your local Audi dealership:icon thumright:

Great thanks,
Why build them like that its doomed to fail. :sos:

I guess when one failed the extra stress caused them all to just fail at the same time.

Well I've just ordered 25 of the part number above, and they are made of alloy the same as the heat shield so they won't rot .Also from the picture it's rusted away, and using steel clips on alloy heat shield is just going to cause problems due to dissimilar metals (dissimilar metal corrosion/Galvanic corrosion).

OK, so the clips you have shown above are used on the A1, A3 & A4 and were used on some other models but they have now moved to the move expensive N 90708803 nuts.

The one you have shown in the photo is part number N 90796502 cost is about 28p, they must put these on as a cost saving measure.. Will be checking the Mrs A3 and if they are looking like the ones in your photo then I will get more of the expensive clips, as replacing heat shields when the mounting holes have rotted away is far more expensive.

Great thanks for that.
I already have the other ones on order, but let me know how the A3 looks and how the fitment of the N 90708803 goes.
