My s3 v6 build

Running the power cable to the boot I found a where water has been getting onto the car, it’s been getting in around the cabin filter, the filter itself a bit wet and the base round the housing is soaked, hopefully the new scuttle panel will sort that out

You can have a look in my engine bay when I come over. 1 I'm sure is for coolant. Another takes fumes back to throttle body. Third 1 I cant remember

That's fired and galled up a lot! Clean it up and bung it in the freezer, might help. But looks like it's a bit tight! Could get the dog bone reamed out if you really want to use it?

The bush Il clean it up and see if it can be used at £50 I don’t want to buy another if I don’t need to and that dog bone mount is going in the bin When I taken the rubber out of the other end it was a aftermarket part so will see if the oem is a better fit,

Vibra technics have said they will fit a new sleeve on it and to send it back which is decent

Busy weekend for me (hopefully) have some new coolant hoses and the v6 power steering lines to fit, hopefully get the battery relocation finished and look into the carbon canister delete if possible , loads to do and no time at the minute with working away

I also have bought a blue haldex controller I shouldn’t have and should of bought the Injectors instead, no point worrying about traction when I can’t even get motion ha, still plan on buying the touch motion when I’m in the states in March so was a bit of a pointless buy but have seen people usi g both but not sure if it makes a difference from using the standard controller with the touch motion

Looking forward to seeing some pictures mate. Won’t be too long and you’ll be able to turn the key!

If you ever decide to sell on the blue controller, hit me up hehe. Shotgun first dibs.

I’m going to be doing the carbon canister delete as well. Might look at it tomorrow if I get time.

More room, less pipes and clutter is the reason I wanted to do it might be other benifits I don’t know

What are the benefits of the carbon canister delete (if any

No benefit as such, obviously it’s less to go wrong and removes pipework that could potentially leak. If you want to get into the nitty gritty the less you put into the TIP the better, because that’s all stuff that the engine has to burn off. Like for example, running a catch can into the TIP, the oil vapours actually reduces octane.... very small amounts but everything adds up. Which in turn reduces performance.

I will do, if you do don’t forget the pictures

Looks like you need a 330 ohm 10w resistor if you remove the canister entirely bud. Little research and it looks like quite a simple delete to do.

If you have ignitron you don't need a resistor to delete the N80

Just have to unroute it assuming its routed in the outputs

I should have mine next month along with the turbo, my target is to have the car all wired, coolant, Fmic, finished by the time they arrive

Managed to finally get the coolant pipes and power steering finished, just need to look at the breather side of things now and delete the carbon canister and order some pipe work for the fmic And face the thing I keep dodging the wiring!

Some good work out in bud. Your nearly there.... I didn’t get round to doing the carbon canister delete this weekend. Doesn’t look to difficult to be honest.

Mines not connected to anything at the min so will only take 2 mins to pop the hose through the wheel arch , Just looked at badger5 website says he’s out of stock On The ignition hopefully won’t be long till he has more in

Jobs to left do no particular order
1, carbon canister delete
2) finish battery relocation and Andy Mac sub install
3) look into crank breather pipe work
4) fit inlet, tb and fuel rail
5) buy n fit turbo
6) fmic pipe work
7) build tip
8)fit wiring loom and electronic boost controller
9) fill with fluids
10) Fit new drive shafts
11)fit ecu
12) figure out how to do downpipe might have to hire a trailer
13) refit rnse, mfsw and figure out how to get it working,

parked the van in city centre on Monday and came back to this, crafty ***** drilled the door and pulled the cable where the handle is for inside the van, took everything that I didn’t have on site, it’s a company van and contents not covered so I’m down 2k which has come out of the car fund
On the plus side my blue haldex arrived today and a haldex service kit and 3l of g12 just waiting on some distilled water, hope you weathers good I can get some work done on it this week I don’t like the fact the engines been sat empty for so long so want to try n get fluids in it soon

The throttle body I got is clashing (I should pay attention to the little details) with the water housing, so I’m thinking to get a spacer Is there any down side off using a 20/30mm throttle body spacer it shouldn’t make any difference should it?

Space... or the lack of....
As I used a 70mm tb it was a bit easier but still had to mod mine...

He did the same as I did to his TB... mine is a little smaller so I have more room but you get the idea...

Yeah when I tried putting it that way it seemed to hit the fan aswell have you cut of the water connection there? , I see you cut the nipple of the inlet manifold aswell was
Going to ask you about that aswell

All I did on my TB was to shorten the mount for one bolt to clearance the hose... the pic is Eddies which is an R32 TB... he hacked that about quite a bit to get it to fit

<tuffty/>

Is the water connections actually needed for the throttle body, from what I’ve read it’s to keep it warm to help with emissions

no use on a turbo engine for sure... you are building a modded engine mate... wouldn't worry about it :)
