Just had the S3 serviced at local dealer and as usual specified fully synthetic oil.
Just looked at the invoice oil used as follows =
VGS 555 02M2E UR SPECIAL G 5W-40.
Never heard of such a thing so can anyone tell me what sort of junk this is ?

Local 'chippy' uses it..:stupid:

Yebbut its 502 / 505 spec, and those, as has been noted elsewhere on this forum recently, older VAG specs. Current specs are 504 / 507.

Probably 502.00 505.01 spec 5W40 .

A medium quality oil whereas you should of received high .

Yep found out it's VW own brand 502.00 505.01 looks like they will have to change it.

This is the stuff they used:

Not the newest oil, I would demand 504 oil especially when they charge well over £100.00 for a simple oil change.
You can get top quality mobil 1 at ATS for 80.00 but Audi charge 150.00 for oil that has not been used in years.

They will have used Quantium Platinum 5W40 (502 00/505 00/505 01) fully synthetic for a fixed service on an S3 but if it was on a flex service (are any S3 on a flex?) they would be using Quantium Longlife 5W30 (5004 00/507 00) again a fully synthetic oil.
Quantium Platinum 5W40 full specs here https://tps.trade/media/custom/upload/11044_Platinum_5W-40.pdf
Quantium Longlife 5W30 full specs https://tps.trade/media/custom/upload/16890_Quantum_LONGLIFE_III_5W-30_Spec_Sheet_V1.pdf

They did not use Quantum the description is as posted and they think its made by Shell hard work trying to find out what's in my car.

I already advised what was in your car.
If you type the spec into google then this oil comes up, its VW own oil, obviously not sure the actual make of oil as the barrels are labelled VW on the bottles. Maybe they are castrol or maybe quantum, who knows
Type the oil code on your invoice and the link I sent if correct.
