Facelift Oil Temperature Display in Virtual Cockpit

I've tried to do my research to answer this question, but it's not easy to confirm if the comments and pics online refer to the same vehicle as mine.

I cannot see an oil temperature value anywhere in my vehicle ('67 plate S3). I have seen pics of the oil temp in Virtual Cockpit but in F not centigrade, and I know that you can code the oil temp to appear in the "DIS" but I presume that is only applicable to non Virtual Cockpit cars?

Can anyone help me identify if A) it's just a setting B) if it's an easy code or C) you cannot see oil temp in an 8V facelift with Virtual Cockpit?!?!

See below. However below 60c the oil temp will be shown as 3 lines (---). It will only be shown like this in sport display, otherwise you'll have to be in the car info display to see it if you have two dials.

Mine is like the top pic. Bottom is a different setup. Is that an older model or different spec car?

It's probably an A4 or the new A3, it's not different to our display tho (the screen itself).

Thanks, that's helpful to know the sport mode dial show's oil temp, that's working on my car.

That second pic though is not a 67 plate S3, you can see from the pics they are different layout.
 
The view button gives you the other screen. So if your car is on the top screen (rev counter in middle), pressing the view button gives you the bottom screen (rev counter on left and speedo on right).

A4 probs but defo not new A3 as that has the second gen VC which is pretty different graphics wise. The screen shown, even if it is a different car, shows exactly the same screen as the A3, apart from the cars graphic. The two add on dials to each side are differently laid out to the A3 but contain the same info

My Q2 has same VC as the A3, you can see temps as mentioned before, only when the speedo dials are smaller and on the main tab. Do this by pressing view! You can change the Fahrenheit or Celcious measurements via the cars settings in the MMI

What car do you have?

I cannot change between one dial and two dials unless car is stationary as it takes about 3 seconds to switch between the two modes, and that is not operated by the view button, its a few button presses via a menu.
 
It’s designed to only be changed when stationary as the dials disappear during the changeover.

From memory it is
-view button
—change layout
—-select sports layout and press to confirm.

There are then several options with the sports layout selectable by the left and right arrow buttons.
 
I'm sorry about the confusion I've started by posting images of different cockpits :boxing:

It was just to illustrate the different places the oil temperature might be shown. I was fully aware of the fact that it was not the same virtual cockpit but I guess my laziness took over while Googling ;)

Mate to be honest I don’t think you were lazy. The Q2 has the same set up as the foto you showed so I assume the actual VC display is the same for the A3? In the photo you posted, the two analogue gauges for coolant and fuel are at a different angle, that’s the only difference for me, but info in the main VC screen is the same. The VC in the foto is the same, including all graphics and locations bar the picture of the car which is obv different.

pic below is A3 I think? I just googled the same as you I think!!
