So boris says masks in shops etc, thats a very broad description as any retail outlet is a shop.
My local post office allows 2 people in at any time and it works , but now masks are required , but my local pub is open and resturant has bods having meals in a very confined space, whats going to happen there then.
You cant eat and wear a mask at the same time, and if police are to enforce it at shops etc are they going to a pc plod at every retail outlet and petrol station etc.
I don think this plan has been thought about .

I’ve also read that smoking in beer gardens is going to be banned, at least for the time being. How true it is, I’m not sure.

I've been wearing masks in shops for years.

I won't bother with the shops if masks are compulsory. Are people so daft that they think a mask will stop tiny virus "particles" ... tbf my view on masks is that people then think they are invincible so take more risks.

I'm another one that will be staying away from the shops, online order from now on until this rule is lifted.

It makes no sense, I can spend 2 hours in a pub or restaurant with no mask, but buying a pint of milk from my local co-op which would take all of 1-2 minutes I need a mask. If they were going to introduce this rule then it should have been done months ago. Also valuable PPE will used by people going to pick up a pack of cigarettes rather than the companies that really need them, and it's also going to increase prices....

Also what about needing fuel! You have been out (not shopping) and you need fuel (don't have a mask with you) so you fill up your car with £50 of fuel and then get £100 fine for no mask as you needed to pay or would you bee better off just driving off and the fine for that would be cheaper!!!

If you want to wear one then wear it, it not don't. That's my take on it, i would prefer not. Should not be made to wear one & as above in the pub/restaurant you don't need one.

My view now and has been for a while is that is should be down to the individual to decide if they wish to wear one or not for shops etc, not forced on everyone.
So police will enforce it, thats never ever going to work or happen , a plod at every shop whatever or wherever it is , giving out spot fines, who thought up that part of it then.....
And as i said aswell, you can spend an hour in a pub /restuarant without a mask and thats fine but a minute in an empty shop or garage and you need a mask...another plan that wasnt thought about for more than 60 seconds.

Mask should be used in the right places at the right time thats fiar enough but this new set of rules is just , well thats my view.

Staying in Scotland we still have the 2 meter rule and face masks have been mandatory in shops for a couple of weeks now, what I've noticed is the more people are wearing masks the less they are paying attention to the social distancing.
I haven't ventured to the pubs or restaurants yet but now we have 2 issues/hazards when entering some of these establishments, dodging second hand smoke and potential of Covid when no-one is wearing masks or social distancing.
No easy answer but people need to understand that this pandemic is still going on and there is no cure yet.

Exactly, i've noticed the same.
More people are wearing masks but at the same time they seem to think it makes them invincible and social distancing has gone out the window around my neck of the woods.
Numerous pubs have been closed down due to infected customers , i don't do anything outside anymore socially as that's just me these days but its should be either all or nothing with mask's in my opinion, not maybe some and not others.

It's all going to go tits up again anyway .
