2.7 V6 TDi - a good engine?

I have no experience of Audi V6 diesel engines (I have had GM V6 petrol powered 'cars' in the past, ****** expensive to run and maintain!), and wondering if they're a good option.

The one that I'm looking at lives in an A6 C6 of 2008 vintage with 87000 miles.

Any information gratefully received!

Engines are good with no real issues. Problem is usually the multitronic gearbox attached to it.

Cheers - the one I've got my eye on is a manual. I'd rather have an auto, but I do know of the Multitronic issues.
I guess there wasn't a C6 2.7 TDi with a DSG?

I have one in my 2005 C6 and I’m a couple of hundred miles from tipping over 220k. It had its first clutch change(manual) at 175k and the turbo was changed at around 160k do engine wise it’s solid.

DSG was never an option. You can get the multi-tronic reliable if it’s had the oil and filter changed but still have their limits.

I believe the gearbox is also used in BMW and they specify an oil and filter change at around 80 or 90k I think so about now for you. Although Audi specify it’s a lifetime oil so take your pick but if you buy it either ask for it to be changed or make sure you change it as soon as you buy it.

Or just buy a manual and look after it like I have

The early multi tronic 6 speed i had in my mk1 q7 ( mine was 2008) was an aisin box i believe and probably from land cruiser type of production line and had borg and beck axles but cant remember if transfer box was different or whatever but at the time thinking what a mismatch of parts i have here, audi said it ( multi tronic)was sealed for life and didnt ever need changed
