Gearbox swap Audi A6 c5 Quattro

Hi all,

I have c5 1.8 quattro.5 speed,I have been told that fitting TDI 6 speed is good move,for longer gearing?? anyone else done same?I believe it's straight swap...the 5 speed is takes enjoyment out driving,I wish to able to travel at 70/80 mph at reasonable low rpm..as is now.60 mph=2600rpm.

Also A8d2.non runner auto.when I plug in scanner.keep getting"link error"tried 2 scanners..no luck,any suggestions???

I haven't done that swap but I have put a b7 box from an A6 2.0tfsi into a B6 A4 1.8t.
60mph now is at 2050rpm, the car is much more relaxed when cruising and just at the max torque point as well.
You would also need the six speed shifter linkage.

That sounds a lot better..I have Accord cdti that runs at 75 and it's at 2rpm.thats what I aiming for... or close to..

There's a website with all the box ratios, I'll see if I can find it. The box I have was also used in 3.0 litre engine petrol. I got it delivered off eBay for £115

Code GVC, was used on tfsi engine so higher power but mine is mapped so pulls it just fine.

What are these codes...I was trying to see if there is catalogue or site with ref numbers for the gearbox codes...had no luck so I am assuming they are all similar per model/engine..I don't think there are gearing difference...

Ok..I will be getting re map done to
When I get it all done..also been suggested changing turbo(from tfsi) and injectors (from ,225tt)..lots that can be done...but box change is first..can't believe how low gearded these are especially when no limits on autobahn

Sorry I should have stated, the car I have now is fwd.
As long as you match quattro box with diff you'll be okay, diff and gearbox code will be on the build sticker in the spare wheel well.

I also have c5 fwd,and 2.4 manual quattro which I may use for parts for A6/A8(2.8) that's quattro to...but one linking error is my fist problem.no fuel.no spark.
So until i get ECU connection,hands tied
