Any idea the cost to replace the gearbox on the S6 is, please? Or any recommendation whom to ask?

That's not going to be cheap at all, maybe find a box specialist to refurb.

My old by s4 was something stupid.

Thanks

I've contacted my Audi indi today, to get a price.

Price back, to fit a genuine Audi replacement gearbox.

Price supplied and fitted is £10,000. Gearbox would be purchased directly from Audi with a 2 year parts and labour warranty.

I don't know, but bear in mind it's a dual clutch and not a torque converter.

There are a number of specialists who can overhaul/refurb the DSG box, why don’t you reach out to them if your in the UK. Just google them....

Thanks for that. Not got an S6 yet but just doing a bit of research and considering my options if it goes pop. Especially if I get it "improved". Suppose £10,000 is worst case scenario.

2 suggestions, firstly make sure the S6 has a solid warranty that covers the drive train and second check the transmision has had oil changes every 38k miles religiously. As others have said there are many transmission specialists around the UK who will fix a faulty S-Tronic box for a lot less than an Audi dealer will charge. This would probably be a good starting point http://www.fedauto.co.uk/

My suggestion. Buy your S6.

If it has 8 gears, then you have a ZF torque converter gearbox. If has only 7, you have an S-Tronic gearbox.

The S6 only comes with the 7 speed S Tronic. The RS6 and S8 have 8 speed torque converters.

I had my last gearbox service done at Audi, it's a ridiculously cheap price (or was last year) my local mechanic said the oil would have cost him more than the price Audi were charging.

I have an S6 for sale on here with an excellent Sytner Select warranty - selling due to not getting used

Thanks mate, but looking for a facelift avant, ideally one of the last run out ones.

At that price I'd use a gallon of petrol and a match and claim on the insurance
