What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

I'd say 90% of UK cars had cc

Right on. Just me misjudging that then. I've only seen the cc mod done here. In the US we're constantly trying to do the mods or looks that are common in Europe. DTM, tail lights with amber lens, long front or rear plate, euro trunk (for the plate), knee bolster.

90%? No way. So many topics and guides on retrofitting it. Speaking of which, I need to get round to it! COVID meant a lack of long journeys though.

I'm amazed someone specced the power folding mirrors on mine when they missed more of the common options.

I never had CC on my old bus either and it had a lot of other bits though.
I don't think there is a real off the shelf spec with audi of any model or variant, they are all built as individual cars , i have yet to find two b7's of the same spec .
It's that "optional " part of audi that is key, well pretty well everything apart from the chassis is an option.

Have a look through the B7 brochure and see the amount of pack's and options that were offered and in differing combinations, just soo many choices, nearly as many options/combinations as ford offer with the transit.

Front arm rest was only offered in two formats.
As part of a "pack" option or if oredered as a specific option , it wasnt fitted as standard to any B7.

Arm4
Arm2

Options in the US aren't listed out like that. Armrest is standard and many times cruise control is too. We have packages such as s-line and others but not individual options like that.

geographical difference will apply depending on destination marketplace due to any restrictions that may be specific to that point of sale.

Cruise was only offered as a standard fittment to the SE , otherwise it was a customer order option or as audi list it " available" at cost.

I remember while working at the dealership there was option to customize you car. I saw a B7 the other day with drl, autolights, ch/lh, cc, and no sun roof..

If you want a good spec'd B7 , buy a "SE" as they tend to come with a lot more options allready fitted , all the rest vary wildly, S-line can be really basic.

This arrived today, the old style B6 flip up lighter socket, looks much neater.

On the flip side, I had another try at removing the sheared pinch bolt from my spare spare steering knuckle.
No joy, in the vice in my workbench, smacked it with a 3lb lump hammer, 10mm drift and the broken bolt. Heated it (probably not enough) and drenched in WD40, that sucker ain't comin' out.
Just a good job it's not my only one I'm messing with, on the car.

Yep, i was looking into changing mine to the flip over item until i realised how much i had to remove to change it over, needless to say i put things on hold for that project.

Dont those flip ones have a habit for jamming? Probably why they stopped putting them in the B7?

Just love taking the old bus out for a burn and still averaging over 53 MPG.
Can't recommend a remap enough.

I'd love 53 mpg on a nippy run, lucky if i can get 23mpg these days, still i did'nt buy the old bus because of it's outstanding good fuel consumption.

Really!? Is that pushing it rob or cruising? I managed 38mpg on a 50mile run yesterday sitting at 65/70mph.

But when I’m in the twisties and prodding the loud pedal it’ll drop to mid twenties.

Steady cruising is not to bad , probably 35-38 mpg aswell, but open the taps and it drops to low twenties, well based on DIS display and we all know that does tell little porkies sometimes..lol

Front discs and pads change, just Brembos I bought a good while ago. One side done, one to go. Did the rears already.

Hi how did you get those spings to fit ? I bought some that you sent me a link on Ebay,
did my calipers today, but could not get those springs to fit.
Did you grind down the edge on the curved edge before fitting as it does not fit flat.

Good question, I'd like to know as I have a pair to fit.

Can you put up a pic of yours? I didn't have to grind anything just remember it was a bit of a **** to get the spring in place, there is a locating piece in the centre that you need to prise up up push back but you should have done the same to get the old one out.

Just changed the snub mount, quick 10 min job.
The old OE wasn't in too bad condition for 156k, but I'd already bought the Borg & Beck one so changed anyway.

Ok I guess didn't try long enough as was getting tied, yes I know it locates in the centre, I will have another try soon.

Here's a slightly different angle, see if it looks the same as yours.

Going by what you said it sounds like it's just not located right and the edge isn't sitting in the cut out in the caliper.
It is awkward to fit, if you can find a way to keep one end of the spring in place that's half the battle. Watch your eyes incase it pings off.

Hi thanks the picture helps, I will check my springs tomorrow as there in my garage.
I think the turned edge on mine runs all the way, yours just has it in the centre?
but let me check to tomorrow.
BTW did your caliper have the smaller spring before you change them.

Original ones were basically a square that fits in that space in the caliper.

If they are different then the ebay seller has maybe sent the wrong item or changed the listing as I copied it directly from my ebay purchase page. Hope you get them to fit
