Does anyone know if indirect TMPS can be coded in via VCDS?

I understand direct TMPS, which shows the actual pressure values in each tyre requires hardware and ABS pump 1AT. However my research tells me that coding might/should/will definitely(!) work across vehicles without that, as it measures rolling resistance. I have ABS pump 1AS

My vehical is B8.5 2.0 TFSI, 2012 (Facelift) I have ABS pump 1AS. Originally had the Concert head unit.

Anyone have experience with this?

It’s only a coding change give it a go!

Indirect requires the 1AT module unfortunately and it won't tell you the air pressures anyway, it is just an advanced warning system to let you know your tyres are deflating. A direct system utilises additional hardware that uses sensors in the valve stems to determine the actual pressure in each tyre, whereas an indirect system bases it's calculations off of wheel rotations.

Be interested to hear differently though as I'd like this on mine.

Sounds as though you're confident this is the case. Have you attempted to code this in to a vehicle with 1AS?

Even a warning would be helpful, low pressure is low pressure!

Would anyone with VCDS like to attempt to code this? Obviously would reward appropriately!

If you read through that link you posted it says that the guide is for the non-sensor type only and I've read plenty of other cases where the 1AT module is required, look at AHHA guides as they require the 1AT too.
I personally haven't tried, mainly because I'd rather not go enabling options on an ABS module if I wasn't sure that it was compatible. And I haven't heard of any success stories of swapping the 1AS out in place for a 1AT, as I looked down that route also.

I've got the 1AT pump, are you saying I could have actual pressures showing on MMI? I've already got the store pressures that link shows but if I could get pressures just by using VCDS (which I've got access to atm) I'll give it a go!

1AT is the pr code for tpms, 1AS is without tpms, so you need to upgrade the abs module to 1AT.

You will need additional hardware installed for actual pressures to be displayed

I had a garage swap my 1AS pump and module to a 1AT part at the weekend. TPMS and Hill Hold are now working (had to retrofit the hill hold switch and wiring to the ABS pump). If you ever do it and want any help drop me a PM. Coded the new module using OBD Eleven copying old coding to new.

What was the cost of the 1AT unit and labour to fit?

Thanks for the offer, might take you up if it's economical..

Unit was £25 labour was £150. Bit more than I wanted on labour but the guy hadn't done the pump on an s4 before and it's in a bit of a tight spot to get out. There's no way to really do just the module replacement which others have been able to do on more accessible pumps. So while it was all having to be moved out the way anyway he said he might as well do the whole pump, bleed brakes etc.

Ha yeah I read all those as well, I think he just got lucky. Mine definitely wouldn't accept the coding.
