Hi guys,

I've got a 8P 2011 A3 Sportback and it seems I'm one of many unlucky Audi owners as the hinges on the left side of my glove box have completely broken off. What I want to know is, before I spend £150+ on a new one, is it possible to repair it with the hinge repair kit? The pictures below show the broken hinges, and the light only turns on when you pull the hinge out manually. The right side seems to be fine.

And if I do replace the glove box, will I also need to recode the airbag or AMI with with VCDS as I'll need to disconnect the cables? Thanks.

Tbh need to see pics but generally you can repair them.

You could repair that with some 2 pack resin topfix & some support line like from rivets with heads cut off, but tbh look for a replacement lid on eBay as allot easier that way.

Or just get a second hand one if you’re not so handy

Doable if you have a diy-er in you.

Internal reinforcement of the hinge with some metal rods bent to shape and all glued up together. Should be stronger than from factory.

I've broken a hinge in my B7 A4 glovebox and used blowtorch to slightly bend old allen key and inserted it in to hinge and the door. Filled spacing with proper strong bonding glue and it was rock solid.
Spray painted it to finish off and "Bob's your uncle"
