Hi Everyone,

Apologies if this has been covered before but I did have a look and only saw brief mention of OBD11.

My mate has an OBD11 pro and has offered to lend me it to activate a few things, providing I can find a code to do so.

I've got a July 2019 A4 B9 Avant S-line Quattro 190TDI "40".

I only bought this the other day, so i'm not entirely sure of some of the spec that it may have that I've not come across yet, but assuming I don't have it, activation of the following looks plausible - can anyone confirm they've done the following without issue:

Lane Assist (I seem to have the camera for it above the rain sensor)
Traffic sign assist
High beam assist
AdBlue level indicator
Activate parking break automatically at the end of the journey (making it fully automatic, like it is on the Golf)

Anything else an easy activation that might be useful?

Hi,

I have activated the lane assist and high beam assist.
Here is my Lane Assist journey:
https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/lane-assist-obdeleven-b9-s-line-with-pre-sense.416706/

The traffic assist is not possible with just an OBD11, you need someone who can "parameterise" your camera which requires extra (expensive) gear. Kufatec sell a dongle that will do it, but it will only ever work with your VIN: https://www.kufatec.com/en/coding-d...e-traffic-sign-recognition-mlb-for-audi-41880

Don't think the AdBlue indicator is possible either, but not looked in too thoroughly.
No idea about the parking brake.

^ Thanks for that. My mate with the lead to lend has pointed me in the direction of this website with lots of changes possible:

Audiwiki.bitt-c.at/index

I’ve done a few things on mine with Carista

Beep on lock / unlock
Rear DRLs - a must for me as it looks awesome
Auto high beam - great feature and works surprisingly well.

I couldn’t get Lane assist to work for me and I’ve not seen anything relating to ad blue or parking break.

A good little site that, but as I mentioned, VZE requires parameterization with VCP

Parking brake is definitely doable, done it myself. I did it with Carista though so don't have the coding for it on hand. There's a thread on Audizine that includes about 50 different things you can do and the coding for them.

So that makes the electronic handbrake fully automatic, winding on when you put into P or switch the engine off?

That's the way the MK7 Golf's works by default.

Correct, you can either just turn the engine off when remaining in D / S (if auto, not sure about manual), or put the car in park and turn the engine off.

Alternatively (which I did, cheap to do), fit automatic hand brake. It's something you don't appreciate until you have it, and for £120 or whatever it was you can't really argue against it.

What do you mean by fit automatic hand brake?

Oh right, you mean the actual switch?

My car does the hill assist automatically without the button, I assumed its a standard feature.

Yes, the switch. Have you programmed it to do it automatically, or are you thinking of how it holds for a second or two with the transmission?

No, I've not programmed anything.

It applies the hand brake on a hill, I have bay parking at home that's slightly elevated. While manoeuvring back and forth it to fit into the bay the car is at an angle and will put on the green (P) while changing gear?
Unless I've misunderstood the whole thing.

Is it possible program the hill assist without the button?

Did you buy the car new? It's possible to code it without the button and that sounds exactly like what's happened. Possibly the previous owner if it's used - baffled if you got the car new though.

Used, but it's an ex-company car, so highly doubt it had been done as everything else was unmodified.

I'll try coding it and see what happens.

Mind pointing me in the direction of the wiki you followed please?

That's not quite what I meant. I meant to make the handbrake fully automatic, in that you never need touch it. It puts the handbrake properly on when you select "P", rather than you having to put it on at the end of your journey when you park up.

My mate's OBD11 session proved fruitless.

Tried to put on high beam assist - but I already had it.

Needle sweep didn't work, didn't try lane assist because i'd have no way of switching off, fully automatic hand brake didn't work, ad-blue indicator didn't work.

I might give it a go another time. I did get an official VW adblue dispensing spout off him that he had for his Tiguan TDI, but he's got a Golf GTI now, so it wasn't a complete waste of time.

@monkeyhanger
Are you aware that you need to leave the bonnet open during OBD11 coding? If you don't then the mods won't work.

I was not aware of that, thanks for pointing it out. I let my mate know (who has used OBD11 on his Golf for 2 years) and he felt a bit of a f**kwit.:chuncky:

Will try again next time we meet up.

Don't think his Golf needs the bonnet popped to work.

That's simply not true. I've done loads on my b8, b8.5 and now b9 and never once needed to open the bonnet

Newer vehicles, from sometime in 2019 onwards, have a diagnostic firewall which is disabled by popping the bonnet.

And it’s why you can’t flash a 2019/20 RS3 via the OBD port with bonnet shut.

It only applies to cars from 2019 onwards hence why your b8, b8.5 and pre-2019 B9 don't need the bonnet open to do the coding. Trust me, most (if not all) OBD11 coding won't work on post 2019 cars if you don't leave the bonnet open.

No odb port functions, other than diagnostics, can be completed on a vehicle equipped with a firewall while the bonnet is shut. It’s so someone cannot smash a window and reach down, connect a tool and get to work on taking your car etc. They would have to open the door to pop the hood. All vehicles doors are connected to the alarm system so the horn would go off if forced.”

What about the window then?!”

Interior alarms are optional in most of the worlds markets and most people don’t spec them in order to keep the price of the vehicle under their respective tax thresholds.

Cheers DJAlix, always wondered why the bonnet had to be open on post 2019 cars.

Thanks for clarifying. Mine's a July 2019 registered car (probably built May 2019)

How long does it take to receive a package from Lithuania? Ordered my OBDeleven over 2 weeks ago and tracking says it's still in transit. I get packages from China quicker than that.

Can we get a sticky forum thread made where members can post the coding they used rather than lots of links in different threads pointing to other sites?

Usually not 2 weeks but with current COVID situations, nothing is normal. I bought mine off Amazon 8 months back.

Why Lithuania? Were they especially cheap for OBD11? Might buy my own if the price is reasonable.

I think the company that makes them ia Lithuanian. It's not cheaper than elsewhere.

I think mine took around 3 weeks from Lithuania just when the pandemic started, so I would give it another couple of weeks. if they gave you a tracking # you can at least find out if its left Lithuania here:

Mine is still "In Transit" since 3rd July ...

I've received my one. Took over 3 weeks and another few days even when it was showing 'out for delivery' from local depo.

Is that on a single session or just getting your 6 a day?

Tried to get clock adjusted manually on phone and do it that way so it seems that 24 hours have elapsed. No fooling it.
