My 54 plate is currently on 244k and still drives well, but quite a lot of rust setting in now, spent quite a lot trying to keep air con going over last two years as travel a lot in it.....auto headlights levelling knackered, fuel pump sensor warning light on altho no issue etc etc

It's a shame as I'm only second owner from new, first owner and myself kept it well maintained (I can't even find a replacement clutch receipt and previous owner kept tyre receipts.

I'm going to scrap it but wonder if anything worth taking out first and trying to flog on eBay such as the sat nav or CD changer as both function perfectly and may raise some beer money. Not sure if any demand for these things though. Any thoughts?

Join some of the Facebook groups, plenty of people looking for stuff. As many electronic stuff as you can get.
Abs pump, airbag crash sensors, alternator, headlights, body control module, comfort control module, climate control, etc.

This may sound a silly question but when exploring removing my private plate the DVLA document made mention of scrapping a car, and said it needs to be "complete" or words to that effect.

I doubt vehicle disposal peeps aren't worried if a few mechanical parts are missing surely?

You'll need to join the group.

Should've been a link to the group, something went wrong.

Mines on 230K and still on the original clutch and its remapped lol....crazy isnt it they last so long - the best Audi quality before they started producing crap!!
Where about is your rust , is it structural or just the usual front wings / roof gutter type stuff?

I'm not all that mechanically minded but the roof gutter, arches, door sills starting and the rear arm or main cross thing, and garage couldn't even get it off..... talking about getting a welder in etc just wouldn't be worth it value wise.

Spent out 350 on air con last summer and ****** failed again .

Engine wise though incredible, still pulls well, little Smokey on start up on cold day. Did intend trying to get to 300k but alas, no

I had the same ball ache with the air con , initially I spent a few hundred on a reconditioned compressor, this lasted two years and gave way - determined to have one more go i sourced a secondhand genuine compressor unit off ebay , re gas and its been fine ever since. I've spent the other weekend sorting the roof rust on mine, using vactan to kill the rust then zinc primer and a rattle can spray up over - looks good as new after a machine polish!
The front wings you can get on ebay for not big money , they just bolt on - very easy.
If it drives well then it could be worth a second opinion about getting that rear arm off , a bit of heat from a acetylene torch it should get it off piece of **** , then its just a replacement secondhand off ebay for cheap and get it fitted : ).

The PD engine will basically run forever if you drop the oil regular , check out this video its pretty amusing....
