Next Gen 2021 Audi A3 Sedan Debut

Hmm,not sure if i like it. However, thats an awful colour. Prefer Ara Blue.

That car looks awful, colour too light, wheels too small.....

I think the current facelift is going age far better. The interior is going to be out of date pretty quickly, the fake vents are awful.

I have both an S3 and Rs3. The S3 is cheaper to run but if you do low miles, then the running cost difference is very small. However, the purchase price and insurance are quite a bit different.

Tyres
S3 uses the common 18in 225 40 tyres (unless you've upgrade to 19in, though that wasn't an option in 2014) - very cheap and usually about £325 to £395 fitted for 4
RS3 uses bespoke Pirelli tyres if you stick to pirelli they aren't cheap at £1040 for 4. You can get cheaper makes especially if you go non staggered setup - though it depends if this impacts insurance and warranty and some places like costco won't do this.

Brake pads and disks
S3 think we paid £319 for front pads and disks
Rs3 think front pads and disks are on offer (lol) at Audi at a bargain £1040

Fuel
For me, S3 about 30mpg - normal driving but busy here hence why low - worst 25mpg, best 42mpg
RS3 about 27mpg - worst 18mpg, best 35mpg

Insurance
About 50% more for the Rs3

Whilst things are a bit more, we do low miles anyway so insurance aside, the difference in cost is hardly anything. The way they drive and sound, the s3 is a quick car but the rs3 is on another planet. The s3 sound is not great (and this is the 2014 model which is alot louder than the later ones)

l can only give my experience of owning a 2015 S3 sportback and my current 67 S3 Saloon
My 2015 S3 was a good bit cheaper to run than my current 67 plate S3 saloon 4 tyres a year Pzero 235/35/19 3 sets 28k miles mpg 35,my 2015 s3 only went through 1 full tyre change in 2 and a half years 28k miles average mpg 31 mpg, my insurance doubled in 1 year into ownership of owning my 67 plate plate Saloon, never had to change disc's or pads on both cars could have easily gone and got an RS3 Saloon but l wanted a specific optioned car and and l was not willing to pay over £600 a month for a specific optioned RS3 back then, but today l still keep looking for incoming stock of a specific optioned Rs3 Saloon low mileage/ex demo end of line car and l know if that specific optioned car turns up l wont hesitate jumping on it especially if its in either Riviera Blue or Solar Orange lol

Sportback looks way better than the saloon in my opinion

Your the only person l have ever heard saying this...barring myself when l use to own a S3 Sport back, having owned both....externally they are totally different and dont share one body panel...the saloon drives better, same cannot be said of the new A3 Sport back/Saloon they share a few panels, bonnet, front bumper, front wings, front doors....rear tail lights
S3 Saloon has always been around £2k more expensive than the S3 Sport back and that's not just down to marketing

Surprised to hear this @jassyo06. Your better waiting now to see the upcoming S/RS on the new 8Y platform. The 8V variant won’t be a smart move now, especially the post WLTP cars. The Sport models with the Rotors is just wrong.

Have to agree with Crockett - the Saloon is much more stylish than the Sportback. :sunglasses:
Funny thing is I have previously always had a preference for hatchbacks, but when I first seen the original A3 Saloon I immediately preferred it.....then when I came to buy my first Audi it was an S3 Saloon in Ara Blue or nothing.
Now I'm buying another 4 door car so maybe it's an age thing. :D

I don't know but I don't like headlights.. previous ones or pre facelift ones are best looking..

That front grill is HUGE and reminds me of a basking sharks mouth :whistle2:

What is it with the manufacturers obsession with huge grills on their new models :puke2:

I always liked the TTS, some may call it a hairdresser's car, but to me it is a just a great looking small R8 from the front end, no comparison on the rear end though ...R8 wins hands down. The TTRS might be my choice, as it is about 10,000 quid more. The same dilemma I faced with my S3 which I was going to cancel my order for in favour of the RS3 when it was first announced.
In retrospect I am glad I stayed with the S3.
The TTS interior and dash is classy and way better than the new A3 design and the TTS price of about 49,000 for the black edition and 55,000 for the Vorsprung is not bad for a UK car, unless you compare the cost in Canada which is a lot cheaper

I think the A3 is a bit marmite to be honest, similar to the RSQ5, 8 etc, just a bit too in your face for me, over done it with the plastics.

TT however is a great looking car, a real head turner in the right spec.

As far at hatchbacks go, I love em :icon thumright:
and I am very happy with my hatch currently - I was only looking at this weekend after cleaning it and from every angle I think it looks great.
Definitely the perfect replacement for my RS3 that is for sure.
I'm sure the new S3 and RS3 will look better once we finally get to see them.
I'm not fussed over saloon or hatch tbh, I would have either but the CLA does looks stunning @Ron240

I can definitely see the appeal of a fully specced TTS @jassyo06 too.
I had a 2011 TTS and it was a great car and my wife had a 2006 TT S Line.
The current car is extremely well made and in TTS form it will be fantastic.
The 'only' negative is the HUGE doors which are a pain for car parks but other than that yeah it would be a car I'd consider for sure.
What colour is the car ?

The colour is Turbo blue mate with the black optics design pack including a black fixed rear spoiler ....over and above the Vorsprung options it has Red calipers, Satin Blue design pack ie blue paint on the air vents, sides of the seats, centre console. it also has Rotor grey leather which looks amazing next to the Satin blue paint...by far the best car interior l have been in...but its list price is £55,500 which is mind boggling for a non RS car....especially when l saw a similar spec car awhile back with 4500 on the clock sold for £37, 300 ....wtf but l maybe better looking for one online,as dealers in Scotland ain't renowned for great deals/discounts on cars like this

A horrible thought for anyone affected but with the financial hit the world is going to take I reckon it may well be a buyers market for plush cars. maybe deals to be had in the next 12 months or so?? If you are fortunate not to be made redundant then i reckon you could take the punt on a private sale one?

That's a shame it sounded like a terrific car ........ as you say though if they aren't realistic they will struggle to move a car as highly specced as that.

They will if they also want a highly specced price for it. :D
Its been said before but prices for certain models/spec really are getting ridiculous.

Well hopefully it will be too hard to shift and they'll need to register it...then l'll pounce on it lol Scottish dealer discounts are a joke mate he was only offering me 12% but it's the high APR that's the killer the APR on used cars is lower

They will definitely be silly money. If you are happy with current cockpit etc, which let’s be honest is still pretty good, could be a shrewd move.

Cracking deals on run out M4 Comp Heritage Edition, but we all know Audi don’t play the “big discount” card which is why residuals remain so good.

Yeah just keep your eye on it and tell them if they do want to shift it you would be interested but only for the right deal and finance package.

That TTS as specified will hold its value way better than an S3, it will become a classic and Jassy it has the colour etc. you want...no silly money for an exclusive paint. Plus you do not have to travel to the S.E. of England for a marginally better deal!!

Well, if predictions are correct and we fall into a world wide recession, maybe car prices will reduce to realistic levels? Or just massive discounts.

Well they're will be no point discounting cars as they'll be nobody in a job and then armageddon will ensue ......:sign hijacked:

Well after a wee bit of searching l found the exact same spec of car is available with a APR of 4-8% and with a £10k discount although certain dealerships are using different interest rates????
