Hello

just bought an A4 Avant ‘14

just nipped outside and noticed the car, which is sat on the drive is massively dipped on the passenger, so much so, I don’t want to drive it the 2 miles to the garage. No idea what the issue is, coil or air. Just wondered if there is a common issue? no warning lights though.

was driving home earlier and hit a hole or something. Made a bang but nothing major. Thought I may have had a flat. Checked when I got home and nothing. This is about 6 hrs later and it is significantly dipped. A nice chunk out of the alloy too.

luckily it should be warranty but just wondered if any body has any suggestions as I’d dather go to the garage with a bit of info behind me.

thanks

Yes, I thought that. But I’d have thought I’d have noticed when I got out of the car, so maybe it could have slowly reduced but maybe not.

I’ll have another look in the morning. It’s that low I couldnt quite see.

Question, should both springs be replaced at the same time?

the garage has been amazing and they’re sending the mechanic around, as it’s not drive-able. Only thought after that the other should be done too.

Most people will advise you to replace both, would have thought your mechanic would have suggested you do both.

Yes, I spoke with him and I’m dropping it off Friday morning to be replaced.

Great customer service though, the car was stuck on the drive, AA wanted £100 so the mechanic came to my house and part repaired at my house.

Had the coils changed. The car is sat very high at the front now. Doesn’t seem right.
Got a part number : 2884579 but I can’t find that anywhere.

Which engine is in your car and is it quattro or front wheel drive - also is it S-Line with or without S-Line suspension, these springs "might" settle down slightly with time - or they might be aftermarket and not some characteristics as original springs.

For instance, I replaced the front springs on my daughter's previous SEAT Ibiza and it, from that point on always sat too high at the front, she owned that car from new, I bought Sachs springs from ECP so I'd think that they held a "short" range of springs, ie not the same different weight ranges as OEM.
