Hi, I bought a 2014 Audi A3 1.4 TFSI and the engine bay is pretty dirty, I'm sure no one touched there for a few years. I will buy some cleaning products but I will be glad if you could advise some.

I found Meguiars Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose Cleaner for 10 bucks at my nearby auto parts store, is it good for this work?

Also, are there any areas I should cover to prevent water from getting in? Like alternator or so?

Because detailers in my area ask 70-100 pounds for engine bay cleaning, also I love to do it myself so I thought, I can do it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Berke.

It's relatively straight forward, I'd cover the battery with a plastic bag and other electric components and wouldn't use a pressure washer at full blast

This chap is very knowledgeable so would recommend watching this video to get an idea of the process.

Any all purpose cleaner should do it. Apply, agitate with a brush, blast off. My battery is in the boot so I'm good!

Thank you very much for the help, I will make sure not to use a pressure washer at full blast. Also, I will check this video now. Have a nice day!

Thanks for the advice, you are lucky to have the battery in the boot, is it A4?
