Twice this week my car has cut out at lower revs, by this I mean blipping the throttle below 3K revs. It happened both times as my car was warming up. Also, the car is chugging a bit more at idle.

The last Oil change was around 3K ago, I had a new PCV around the same time. NGK spark plugs - could it be the coil packs?

My car is high mileage at 56K!

Is 56k high mileage? Jeez

I'd say 100k miles starts to be high mileage. Anything below, meh. These engines are solid.
I'm expecting mine to do 150k with the right preventative maintenance.

I had an issue a few weeks back with a fill up of Tesco Momentum fuel, shortly after the car wouldn't idle properly and at one stage it actually kept cutting out, turns out the fuel from Tesco was sat around too long during the lockdown.

Drained most of it out and replaced with good Shell Vpower fuel plus a cleaner and all was well again.

Never seen the engine run like that before and i thought it was something more serious.

Get it scanned something like that should throw a code of some description even with no engine light ect.

Tesco could have been getting a nice bill by the sounds of it!

So best to keep away from Supermarket fuel as it will be very slow moving stock compared to normal stuff. Shame, Tesco is the nearest filling station for me.

Always use Momentum 99 and the Tesco I always use was busy during the lockdown.
However 99 be it Tesco or shell is probably a slower seller.

I’d been speaking to someone about it who reckoned that Shell Vpower was the worst culprit for going bad when sat around too long.
