While looking at various tuning options either jb4 or a stage 1 from the likes of revo ect

am I correct in thinking the standard intercooler does not fair well?

if so is the Wagner evo 1 a good drop in option that will cope well without having to alter crash bar and other parts of the front end?

Get the Forge. I’ve been running one since last year.

I see the forge is a popular option, but maybe overkill for stage one? Much prefer an option that does not alter crash bar and removal of other parts

Standard intercooler is OK but does struggle with heat soak. A upgraded intercooler will always be worth having even on a stage1 remap, it will improve consistency.

There is a new Revo intercooler out soon that may be worth looking at, a little bit about it at 6min25s in this video

Forge is widely regarded as the one to go for though.
Wagner Evo 1 isn’t that much bigger than stock cooler.
The forge isn’t difficult to fit either.

Difficulty of installation is not to big of an issue as i would be getting it done by a local specialist, it is just a case of less altered the better for a more oem+ finish. Cost also comes into it as the forge is another £400 or so.

Yeah I work for Revo :grinning: but not saying anyone should buy Revo parts, there are plenty of other brands available.

Why it only makes 60hp ? :p
lots of reasons but I dont have to explain them . Plenty of establishments tuning these cars, if a reliable and driveable 60bhp increase with no hardware changes isnt enough then Revo isnt the calibration to use, simple as that.

What makes more? every option i have come across seems around the 60 mark so a little more many a bit less

Just a pity that REVO isn't making as much as the likes of MRC and other tuning houses which seem to have no issues making the same numbers as pre-OPF cars in the 485+ range at stage 1 when REVO tunes on other models are generally on par with its competitors.

I can't comment on how other tuners are doing. Not seen many at 485+ with standard hardware though but maybe I have missed them. I am sure you will point them out to me .

It’s definitely not all about number chasing for some and me included.

I was impressed with the work REVO had done on their own RS3 taking the time to develop a map that delivered good gains whilst still giving great day to day usability.

I’d highly recommend them on their product and service and no regrets going stage 1 on my OPF RS3 knowing I could have squeezed another 10-20 bhp possibly through other tuning companies.

Have you done anything else to yours mod wise aside from the software? how many miles on your car?

Those vinyl stickers are worth at least 20hp no? :p
We know Nardo is the fastest colour and the red Quattro probably adds another 5-10bhp....I’m not chasing big numbers!! :congratulatory::icon thumright:
