S4 Brake caliper upgrade, 4/6/8 pot?

I was set on getting the Porsche Macan 4pot caliper upgrade and red stuff pad and who knows what discs for my B8.5 S4 Avant.

But as I’m planning to go MRC stage 2 next month wondered if I should hold out and get bigger discs/calipers?

the reason for the uncertainty is I’m sure I’ve read somewhere the abs pump wouldn’t provide enough pressure for bigger setup and this would also need upgrading!!

I’m not planning to track my car but at the same time want to counter act the stage 2’s extra power with better brakes.

What brake set ups have others gone for when upgrading power?

I’ve fitted RS4 front and rear calipers on my 2011 A4 3.0tdi before it goes to be treated to a Bobby Singh map.
Brakes are awesome straight bolt on kit rears I had to buy RS4 calipers and brackets as the rears are a vented disc.

Yea as above got some RS4 8 pots for £500 and repainted them. They bolt on ensure you buy them with the brackets. The Pagid discs on Euro car parts I'm sure are rebranded Audi's. Say made in Germany too. Were about £350 for a pair. Brake fluid change and you can change out to SS lines if you fancy it. Got good pad options I went with Yellow Stuff. They squeel a bit until hot but the bite is really good. For any fast road I've done they have been more than enough and will probably buy them again as they were a good price off Amazon at the time.

I run Brembo 6pots from an Audi S8 and RS6 390mm discs, brackets needed a little modification and the set up works really well
 
I went from stock 288mm front single piston, to the 320 4-pot Macan/Q5 setup, and the rears from stock 255 solid disc, to the 300mm vented S4 setup. Way better(although a little deeper pedal travel then I expected) and more then enough to slow the old boat down with my teeth in the dashboard...

ah so with the Macan/Q5 you can go up in disc size?
I was going to keep my rear calliper oem s4 as I've heard they don't differ from Rs4? (could be wrong)
if I kept the same caliper on rear I assume I wouldn't be able to go up in disc size there?

Upgrade brake fluid tho as managed to boil mine which was an expensive oversight.

Brake cooling upgrades are also important. Lack of cooling definitely contributed to boiling the brake fluid

FYI - S4 and RS4 rear calipers are identical.

I've got the Porsche cooling parts on order but wondering if I should DIY the hole through the fender liner or sure I saw some TTRS swap somewhere.
Think I read about the rear being the same as RS4 but good to know for sure.

I'm now toying with going for the YSR 6 pots and slotted disc. They should fit in the nicely in the 19"

Anyone else have these fitted?

I've done the ttrs arch vents and so has desert storm - there are pictures on his build thread

Ah, "good" old memories, I had 288mm front discs on my 2000 B5 VW Passat 4Motion and they were never much good at giving you confidence! In 2015 my wife bought a new VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL and it has 288mm front discs, and they suit that car okay - what was VW Group thinking about fitting them to a Passat 4Motion back in 2000, the mind boggles!

Or even TDI A4 B7s up to the B8 change over.
I have them on mine now, with a pair of 320mms waiting to go on.

I might be a little late to the party. But I thought the Q5 brakes were 320mm and the Macan brakes were 345mm?

Also does anyone know if the Touareg\Cayenne 6 piston callipers still fit like the B7 A4?
 
I wouldn’t have thought so. It’s only 25mm but that’s half the pad material near enough missing the disc of you fit madam calipers to the 320mm discs.

The caliper physically will only fit one size.

Yes Cayenne calipers are a straight bolt on with merc ML 345mm discs

For the brake congnoscenti - what are the brake piston diameters for a B8.5 S4 and a B9 S4, front & rear?

Just finished trial assembly of B9 S4 6-pot Akebono calipers and C7 A6 356mm rotors on front of B8.5 S4 & & they fit perfectly with a 1x1/2x5/8 round spacers, & my 18" summer & winter wheels have adequate clearance. Now I need to know the above to decide on rear brakes (would like to keep front/rear piston area ratio close to original).
 
The rear brakes on the S4 are exactly the same as the rear brakes on the RS4, I've had my B9 S4 calipers and A6 fronts on for two years (i think!) now with no balance issues including running them on track.
