Ive been scammed, warning for other members

Some good news... I got my money back.

As a reminder and for future reference, I paid via paypal using my credit card and claimed via the charge back function on my card. Money was returned this morning.

Should we have our own hall of shame where known or suspected scammers etc. can be highlighted somewhere for everyone to be aware of? Perhaps also including some tips on safe trading, if there's not already. Just a thought.

I’ve seen it tried on other car forums and it was a waste of resources.
They will just keep making new profiles.
Other forums have minimum number of posts required before you can access the classifieds.
Some make the classified sections “paid members only”.

I could be wrong but is our friend back??... Just received this dodgy PM from a new member, never posted before.
Suspisious member

The member quoted above doesn't exist, he's 51 and from Silicone Valley. Red flags all over - warning to all be careful.

Admin can you check IPs??

DS_thomas if you are genuine I apologies.

Can't the police trace that guys location from his IP address? Not sure how it all works but surely there's some way.

I just got the very same PM but with my part listed....

Add a rule;
Cannot PM or use for sales until reach 50 posts.

Will at least protect unsavvy buyers.

Possible solution could be to tell the bank you “need a return address for the item”, then maybe all of you make a trip down to the address instead of “posting your items back”
You’ll either find the c**t or be one step closer to tracking him down...

The Police? They couldn’t catch cold

They won’t be bothered one bit

No reason why they would be; it's a civil matter.
From my experience they don't really give a flying eff about anything small like this, probably get looked into by a new officer weeks and weeks down the line if your lucky or but to the back of the folder full of other small time things they never look into, they can hardly deal with moderate to high level crimes let alone small ones, hence why it takes them hours to come out to something small like a break in or vandalism, its not priority for them.

The police don't deal with civil disputes period. They aren’t part of the police’s remit.
